Not lifting scratchers before backing up I have replaced a few. This year I modified how the scratchers are attached to the rails or skies. Use a piece of aluminum flat bar 4" X 4" X 3/8" thick. Drill the 3/8" hole (for the main spring bushing bolt) and the 1/4" (spring end hole) 3/4" from the top of the plate. Remove material above the 1/4" hole to create a notch which will allow the end of the spring to rotate up and to the rear when backing up. Attach the plate to the rails or the inside of the skies.
I am trying this with the hope to get more than one back up.
Thanks
Beasley

Looks like a great idea and can picture it working but might get some funky bending when on trails with little snow.

i tried that and it does work on trails with 5 or more inches of snow but if the trail is hard they won't turn out and they bend i put a sticker just above the reverse light to remind my old mind to lift them i just take them off and put them in a vise to straighten the problem is trying to get them on the rail after bending them
