BCSF non-rider membership?

Just curious for those of you who don't buy a season pass do you still buy a BCSF pass?

I just noticed the Revelstoke club is offering a $20 non-rider pass and I think valemount has for a while.

I ride multiple areas over the winter so a seasons pass just doesn't make sense.

There are a few clubs that do that. Husbands/guys buy the wife/girl friend (non-rider) a "non-rider" membership. Helps with numbers and it is a small donation.

I would be into this. The club I pay dues to, is pulling out of the bcsf, it is not for me to disclose anymore info on this. But If I knew this before hand, I would not have renewed my membership, however now I will be donating toward bcsf anyhow. Trying to decide if I pay dues toward another club, or directly-if possible.

Definitely gonna ride but just not all in one place so I always end up just paying the daily trail fee, which from what I understand doesn't benefit the BCSF at all.

So I think I am gonna buy this $20 pass just so I can count myself in on the fight against area closures.

"You can choose to pay a Daily Trail Pass or purchase a yearly membership.  The rates for memberships are stated below. The price for a daily pass is $25, if you are a members of another BCSF club and with proof of membership you will be granted a $5 discount off the price of a daily pass."

Can anyone from the club clarify for me if I buy the BCSF non rider membership from the Revelstoke club does that entitle me to the $5 discount?

iMHO, there will be a lot of clubs pulling out of the BCSF because of dissatisfaction with the financial aspect of the proposed PTP. The bigger clubs can't afford to have less income/revenue and will go their separate way.

I'm not saying I disagree with the bigger clubs. And your right, there are several clubs writting letters of intent to leave/stop payment. But it's not the revenue that seems to be the problem, it is the lack of action lately.

Anyhow, I want my money lobbying to keep our areas open. So I will donate. Looks like I will sign up with Windermere if they are planning on staying with BCSF.

Yup, but only 2 groomed trails instead of 4

Yes 4 groomed trails at Sicamous, two closed most of time for logging and a parking ****show most of the time at Owl but nice riding lol

Unfortunately, logging is outa your and my control, but think of the cost and time to groom owlshead to bluelake and back, it's a 12 -16 hour round trip, just as Groomer is getting down we are going up, also one reason the trail lower half sometimes don't last long, as it has no set up time


Mabe you should come to a few club meetings Bert, help out and see what's going on around here, and see why the pass is what it is at for price

Yeah Revy two groomed daily, sometimes with afternoon grooms. Plus not just one way in and out. Quite a length of grooming.


Sicy 2 trails groomed maybe once a week. 2 groomed with regular 200 sled traffic. Lol

Biggest problem with buying multiple memberships is trying to convince the subsequent clubs you buy from not to charge the BCSF fees when you already have it. It’s like they never heard of it before. I end up having multiple lol

I don't know why that's such a difficult concept for clubs to grasp. You only join the BCSF once. Not rocket science. Been an un-addressed problem for years.

Once GSC broke away they needed to handle their own membership system and handing out cards.

It's a BCSF/Silkstart problem if you buy online. Bargain basement computer program doesn't know how to handle it.

It's a club problem if you buy in person. Even before Silkstart club's couldn't get it right on paper. It's like the math is too difficult.

Agree logging is fact of life. I work away every week so club meetings are impossible for me but after 12 years of membership I am just paying as I go this year. With what I paid daily at Revy last year with no credit for BCSF membership in addition to membership at Sicamous and increase this year cheaper for me.
