Here is a Shout out to BCA AWESOME Radio Folks

I wanted you all to know the BCA radios are doing very well for me this winter

I bought 2 of them them in August 2015 and used them in the summer a little but this winter after 17 days in the snow they are standing up and performing very well
Others friends have Garmin's and regular two way radios and the BCA radios stand up very well and communicate Awesome
Everyone I have come across who sees them and wants to know how they work loves the system

I had a mike that became a small tech issue last week and found the BC reps for BCA and contacted them and let me tell you, they are outstanding folks and care very much about the fellow sledders
Within 5 days I had a new mike at my door and we chatted about the product and other BCA products for over 1/2 hr on the phone

Get one or two of these BCA radios

Yep great radios. I set mine up with in helmet speakers with a mono to stereo adapter. If my daughter needs help (not that I ever let her out of my sight) she can call and I get a crystal clear message. Actually with the in helmet speakers almost need to turn the volume down.

We run a few in our group and they're alight - I personally have one. The idea of the removed speaker / mic is awesome. Having it right there is very convenient without question.

We find the Garmin Rinos produce a better signal both range and clarity (4 watt radio vs the 1 watt bca system). Also I'm somewhat bothered my channel selector nobs shift while riding at times... I wish they had a locking selector switch.

Over all good product but in my mind has room for improvements. Of course also less expensive than a Rino 650 but different classification of device.

Our group has had the same problem with the channel selector knob being bumped to another channel. We now assign A, B, and C to one frequency and D, E and F to another frequency...we then only use A or F so the knob would have to be shifted 3 positions to accidentally change to another frequency.

We all switched to the BCA radios and once we figured out you can lock them no more channel changing! Lol. Much better now, less yelling and better nerves!

What's the mic issue? My buddy seems to have issue hearing me on his rhino, unless I speak louder than normal. Is that because my mic is the issue?

I was wondering if anyone has had this issue? While out on the mountain recently, I contacted my buddy who was pretty close by. He could hear me perfectly, but I couldn't hear him. Every now and again, I got a mute click. When we got back to the hotel that night the radios both worked fine and both batteries were fine. We are thinking the mike had snow in the speaking area on the one that wouldn't transmit a voice. Anyone had this type of problem before? We are going to test the theory by putting the mike under our back pack strap and up side down in order to protect from snow in the mic. Anyone else dealing with this issue another way? Thanks

I run my BCA Mike facing out on my left shoulder strap. Packs full of snow or whatever and has always worked fine...so far!

Have had the same problem...the voice pickup gets iced up and the transmit is muted. Rode with the tip toe of a nylon stocking over the Mic and the problem was solved.

Bonus is...if I get stuck out overnight, I can take a sniff of the nylon and think of my wife...home safe in bed....maybe

So we have a group that runs 4 of these radios, and we've had nothing but problems with all of them for 2 seasons. One guy is totally fed up and is taking them back. They work for about an hour, and then after they seem to get cold, they won't transmit except for a quick blip. To me it seems like the radio is out of juice and doesn't have the power to broadcast. The concept of these is really great, but the operation of all 4 of these has been brutal. We have yet to have a full day with these working properly. Always fully charged and working when its warm.... My Rino has worked flawlessly for years in the coldest days.... These not so much.

I already have 2 puxing radios and 2 rinos. We find the rinos work best if you have newbies because if you can talk to them on the radio, you can see their position on a map. Puxing just lets us use Kenwood mics which i find are better than the junk you can buy for the Rino. Must better volume out of the puxing paired with the Kenwood speaker mic.
