bc sled registration

i realize this year sleds are supposed to be registered in bc, my question is...is there a weekly registration that can be purchased? unlike me, my wife and 2 kids only go out once a year, and usually ride 2 or 3 days. just wondering if there are options? also what is the fine worth if caught riding without registration? thanks

not sure about guys coming in from Alberta but its now all over the radio that the sleds have to be registered by Nov 1st.not looking forward to this crap but I heard that the cops will be patrolling the staging area's.

no doubt they will, i understand the whole registration idea and although i dont totally agree with it i realize it is a fact of life that is not going away. i just dont like the idea of paying and extra $80 (or what ever it is) per sled just for them to ride 2-3 days a year

It's my understanding that if you have them registered in Alberta you are fine to ride in BC.

Yeh, but it costs more to register in AB than BC,and you have to pay every year instead of once.

That is a lot cheaper than paying many hundreds in PST taxes.

What about a BC resident riding a sled with Alberta registration? What if a relative buys a sled, registers it, and then leaves it at my house and says I can use it?

Your not registering the rider, you register the sled. The residence of the rider doesn't matter.

You can ride his sled. It's registered. It's legal.

People need to treat it just like your on the road vehicles when thinking about out of province questions. I register my truck in Alberta, I drive my truck in any other province legally. No different for someone taking an Alberta sled to BC.

I will have my sleds registered in Alberta with BC minimal insurance coverage (liability only).

I am definitely a BC resident.

I have that honour of paying that tax on my two sleds before my season starts.. that is really going hurt the pocket book but I am sure the goverment needs that tax money more than I do

My registration is up in August, but don't renew until it's time to ride and the cost is usually around $30. Depending on your month, it's a way to save a couple bucks.

regulations, a person must not use or operate, or authorize or permit
another person to use or operate, an off-road vehicle on Crown land or
prescribed private land unless one of the following applies:

(a) the off-road vehicle is registered with the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia under this Act;

(b) the off-road vehicle is registered and licensed under the Motor Vehicle Act or the Commercial Transport Act;

(c) the off-road vehicle

(i) is registered or licensed in a jurisdiction other than British Columbia, and

(ii) has displayed on it, in the manner prescribed,
the number plate, decal or sticker issued by that jurisdiction in
respect of the registration or licensing of the off-road vehicle;

Looks like if you are registered in Alberta you're good to go. If not then you probably need the non resident temporary in ​BC.

Well they would have to introduce a provincial sales tax first, and if they have any desire to have more than one term, they aren't going to do that. If you mean they will add a specific new tax, that you have to pay on registering any used vehicle, I think they will get just as big a backlash.
