This is interesting. The perfect chit storm with demand increasing and the government pushing everything electric. As well as, drought conditions for the Site C dam.

Just got back from the dam, Williston was lowest I've seen it this time of year. Not many turbines spinning. Thankfully we have that evil nat.gas in abundance....

Just think how many people on here voted for NDP because they said site C dam was not needed. Even David Suzuki was up there protesting. Those old coal plants in the US poor the coals to it in the winter when we need it. And we don't have to worry anymore about Albertas clean Coal plant coming online..that would have been a saviour

Hudson hope bc as two hydro dams, here’s the the weird part,
The upper one has 10 turbines
And they only use 2 at a time cuz the need for power is not there for the switch yards load, and the lower dam with 6 turbines has never been needed so there’s talk of decommissioning now due to it not being used ???
That’s fawked up that bc would Evan need to buy its power with all this infostructure sitting around not putting power in to the grid,
But I guess there’s investors for wind turbines out there…..lol

The Bennett dam and Peace Canyon dam are an integral part of BCs electricity supply, the province would go dark at times without them.

I don’t doubt what you’re saying…

Really pisses a person off that AB has all this available energy, should be cheap, instead everyone here gets gouged at the pumps and on their home energy bills. Always drives me crazy to see all the “infrastructure & transmission” charges on my bill, when we all know that these companies have been privatized for years and we're paying huge bonuses/dividends to these corporations that are controlling our infrastructure.
People think old Ralph did us a favour, but in reality he paved the way for the situation we’re currently facing. Keep your plucking 2bit Ralph bucks and give back a well managed provincial owned infrastructure system.
And for those nay sayers… this isn’t a Liberal/socialist mind set, that would be selling off your golden goose to friends and family corporations. The old days were way better managed than today.

they also said

real men in the 60s built these dams for the future, and need for growth but Canada just hasn’t grown the fawk up

I have looked it up, I've also visited both dams.

The 2 dams combined produce 38% of BCs electricity.

It's all about balance, if they ran all 10 the flows downstream would be high and Williston would be draining at far higher than normal rates. Lot's of prediction goes into how much you can pull out of the lake. Zero snow as of a few weeks ago.
