When I bought my new sled I decided f-that to the loud can. Man is the stock exhaust ever nice on the ears. I'll stay stock on my next bike as well. I guess early 40's and tinnitus can change a guys mind. Only regret is I should have left them stock sooner. Surprisingly my junks the same size with stock exhaust... who woulda known.

just spent a week touring around the koots and Washington state. bike has Rinehart true duals with free flow baffles, saw a few RC's and even had one follow me for about a half hour on 33 headed to k town and I gotta say I was a bit nervous and it sucked sticking to the speed limit on that wicked piece of road.

I was sure to be respectful with the throttle around Kaslo (man, they really dislike bikers around there) or other populated areas, and got no hassle about noise. I would imagine enforcement will kick in hard during the summer months, saw way more ADV style bikes than I did v twins out and about.

I think a guy would be ok in BC with loud pipes as long as one doesn't douche it up.

Edmonton and Calgary are cracking down to.

Kind of a crap shot if they pull a person over.

And I just installed a 2 1/2" strait pipe on my Thumper.

No baffles since it prevents me from "Pin It." Ha

I put the stock suitcase back on my sled. I'm liking the quieter exhaust.

Yeah I must be getting old cause Im the same. Had a can on my 850 and took it off after the first ride. Put the stock suitcase on and man was that nice!

I’ve been riding street bikes my whole life and most of them loud including the one I presently ride. If you think loud pipes don’t save lives , I won’t say it but you know what I’m thinking. Give me the choice between loud pipes an high vis clothing.....pipes hand over fist every time. Not that they both are not important. I’m not a throttle happy teenager and have never had a complaint from a neighbor or anyone else for that matter. If you expect respect, you need too respect. Ride smart.

Loud pipes have very little to do with safety it's mostly has to do with image.
Most cruiser riders with loud pipes wear a half helmet ( if there is a helmet law )
Lots ride with chaps and a leather vest, these are for image not safety.
Go to any bike night and look at what people are wearing not very many high vis full armor riding gear because it's just not cool but boy there are lots of nice sounding loud pipes.
