BC bush closing in the Board Room stage??

Heard a rumour out of the east Kootenays this morning. The person I heard it from is credible but how far down the line does the credibility go is unknown.

Apparently, Horgan and Dr. Bonnie Hendry are talking about the out of control number and what to do about them. I heard on the news (Global BC) that Horgan has thrown out the idea of higher fines and collection agencies being called to collect those same fine. Another idea on the list of things to do to control the numbers is the "closing of the bush". One of the informants said "he had talked to a CO (conservation officer) and confirmed that they are talking about what to do if and when such a scenario is forced upon them. So that would be ski hills, snowmobile staging areas, FSR access, etc.. A shot in the dark maybe but the thought of them thinking about it is totally scary and asinine.

Don't shoot the messenger, as we all know about all the conflicting information that has been and is floating around. Something to think about and hope that there aren't too many CO's in the area you want to play in.

Watched the story last night on Global of Big White in Kelowna causing a super spreader. 60 cases and counting out of that. That is certainly something that doesn't help the cause although I believe other than in the warm up cabins sledders are less likely to get the Vid than skiers are with their line ups and social failings.

but we as sledders need to stay out of the cabins at this time, it's a good way for things to get worse, this is likely what the Gov't is going on about. They need to be treated as "emergency shelters" at this time until things return to a more normal, or yes, I do foresee them doing everything they can to shut down our recreation as well.

I can totally see them forcing cabins to be locked up. Maybe staging areas closed too. Since the majority of them are rec sites they already have the authority to shut them down.

LOL where do you get this information? They are trying to get the federal military in to police the provincial boarders?? When the provincial boarders are not even closed as of now.

The fall of a society is bringing in laws and regulation that can’t be enforced... closing the access to BC backroads would be extremely difficult. There are so many points of access.

The only way to police that would make the fine unaffordable. $25,000 for breaking a closed law would make a protest ride very expensive

I agree and a case in point is the east Koots. At the most, there are 5 CO's. They cover from the north of Elkford (Kananaskis area) south to the American border and maybe east to Creston and north to Canal Flats. A huge area and as you say "many point os access". It may be a little tricky getting to your favourite honey holes but I am sure it can be done. I guess the one point to consider is the attitude of Horgan and his idea about increasing fines. $1000+ fines would be a little hard to take!

This spring in the kamloops area they blocked some of the main FSRs that people frequent with cement blocks and CO was out giving warnings on some of the other areas they couldn't block due to homes in the area. Dont put it past these F%$#s to do it

Closing the staging areas for what government may perceive as the trouble spots would be very easy. Plow them in. When they made us quit grooming last spring traffic dropped to nearly nothing pretty quick too.

I'll still ride, no matter what they do to close things up.

If I have to, if they block the FSR's, I'll get my wife to drop me off and pick me up so I don't leave a vehicle where I stage from.

Yup. This would have little effect on us locals. I can ride from the house without going anywhere near our staging area.
