Well its Monday, did all go well? Lets hear a story. Popcorn please.

030-1.jpg

I promised so here we go.
I was sidehilling the ridge you see in the pic.About 160 feet up from the bottom I hit a hidden rock on the high side, it tossed me off the sled. I could not stop sliding down the slope. I hit the small trees and it changed my direction to directly down. You can see the little patch of snow below the first part of the ridge. After hitting the trees and going over the small bunch of rocks, I hit the snow patch. I almost clawed my way to a stop when wouldn't ya know it the sled slammed into me. It kicked me over like a rag doll and I remember doing a full 360. My head must of struck the rock cliff because it split my helmet and then my helmet went down hill without me. The marks in the snow showed I touched the little strip of snow above the bottom. The sled actually got on it's feet and went 300 feet to the bottom. I went another 150 feet and came to a stop.My first drop was about 12 feet and the second drop was about 30.
Third concusion:eek:
Busted Sternun
2 broken ribs
lost 4 teeth[ there still out there]
3 torn muscles
cracked bone in foot
broken pinky
44 stitches in total to sew up gashes.
The above is little chit, the below kinda hurts
Fractured skull at base of neck[MD has fancy name cant remember]
Plate and screws.Chit load of perchocet.
Yes I will ride differently.
Fab's famous words.....NEVER OUTRIDE YOUR ANGEL
p.s. I'vedone that ridge many times

Personally don't think this is a popcorn story, and glad you are still here to tell the story.
Thanks for sharing that with us SR, it makes one really think.

YUP head cage is very attractive. Keeps the girls thighs from banging my ears though.

Nope no chopper, what normally is a comfortable 35 minute ride back to trailhead. Took me I think about 4 hours. I have more pics will post them when all healed so I can call this story finnished. Son took some close-ups of the crash site and of me [bloody].

that's pretty crazy Snotty, glad you're still around and huge props for getting back in the saddle after a terrible accident like that.

a buddy of mine had a similar crash off a cliff, spent the night on the mountain with a broken neck trying to stay warm under his mangled sled until S&R and our crew found him the next morning. funny thing, he's a Flames fan too....you guys must be tough....:D
