Blew primary chain on my 131. Catastrophic damage. Broke at 6000 rpm passing a car. Bike has 163 tq at the tire. So it’s being shipped back from the Kooteney‘s to my home store to get fixed on warranty which will probably take months. I was pretty distraught and needing some happiness so I bought an 08 street glide with 20,000 km that’s like new. Nice younger man on it forever. Road from Beaumont to an acreage by Devon to visit my brother shut it off. had a beer. Went to leave bike won’t start. WTF. I pulled the plugs and they were dry. Put some gas in the cylinders ago and it runs till the gas burns. Fuel pump has ch!t the bed after opening it for 20 minutes lol. I’m assuming Jesus doesn’t want me riding right now

If we ever cross paths, keep away from my bike if you will. So lucky to stay upright when it locked, that could have escalated quickly. Glad everything except the bike and your shorts made it out ok

That sucks.
Not sure, is max rpm around 5200 - 5500 rpm?
Mines 6500 max rip ems I usually go to 6-6200. whatever came through the primary cover would’ve hit me in the ankle except I had my foot in the air ready to heal ch!t a gear. I was just about to shift. It’s all warranty which is good. But. Now it’s being shipped back to Alberta and takes time, Tear down order parts time more time. I’d imagine the new street glide I bought which broke. Lol with the fuel issue I should be able to fix pretty easy and soon.

Damn, that's nasty. Did the shop that put in the 131 upgrade the primary chain tensioner? On high compression/high hp engines the stock ratcheting auto tensioners are problematic. Most builders swap 'em out for the Hayden M6 or similar spring loaded setups, or even the older style manual adjust tensioner to prevent issues. The ratcheting style get way too tight especially if you are getting maximum enjoyment from your mods. This causes the chain to break. I'd be choked if I spent 10 grand on a motor and had my chain snap because of a hundred dollar part.

My 70 year old dad wants to go look at harleys tomorrow but im trying to convince them they are too dangerous and we should get a jet boat instead lol
That’s awesome. Never too old. As long as he’s still sharp it should be no problem.

Stock compensator. If I put in a man-of-war or aftermarket style, I would’ve had no warranty. So I still have a stock compensator. The good thing is everything was covered, including tow trucks, shipping it from BC back to Alberta, etc. but I lost six weeks of prime summer weather last year where it didn’t rain at all. Not to mention the near miss when it failed at 80 miles an hour. But now I know what that light vibration feels like. I will fix it early next time hopefully

My dads turning 70 this July. We are planning on going to the Black Hills to celebrate. He rides an ultra limited. Only thing is, we added a reverse kit.

That would be an eye opener, bum wiper moment, Drew.

I bought my FLSTC from a little 74 year old lady. She was worried about holding it up so she went and bought a CVO Ultra and had it turned into a trike so she could keep going...

^^^Nice. If your Dads been off a bike for a while there is a decent course in RD. My brother hadn't been on a bike in a long time, he enjoyed it and refreshed a bunch of skills and learned some new ones. You can use their little dual sports.
