I have an 08 800r XP. And my idle is horrible i have to sit there and hold the throttle to keep it runnin, once it gets past 4000rpm it clears up and is all good. i put on a different front intake and a set of reeds. It seems to be runnin realy rich down low and on only 1 cylinder, cause when i take off the intake and cover one carb at a time the mag side dosnt effect idle. when i cover the pto side it kills it. Any ideas? Maybe some pilot jetting?

I had the same thing happen with my 800R XP this year and took it back to Martins. They took the carbs apart and found some crap in them. This is the first sled in many many years that I have had go wacky over the summer and I always use Kleen Flow condioner.

Could it be the DPM? It has bin in a few times for a few things mostly warrenty stuff, and they said they reflashed the DPM while they were at it. Woul that fix it or would it be a deeper problem?

There's no "reflashing the DPM". There's a test...it either works or doesn't. If it is only one side, you should check plugs and wires first...then move to fuel/DPM/carbs. Maybe your choke cable is hanging up on once side.....

K ill check the wires. The plugs are good, i have 2 new stes and switch them off to test they seem fine. Carbs are clean i took them apart though i may do it again.Choke is free and works good no hanging up there. Anything else to maybe check?

I think i tested the wires though, cause i swithed the cylinders they normaly fire on, and it changed nothin, i think it is a carb issue

Ya i had the same problem with mine. It was a high and low idle and was not very consistant then it would want to die then pick up again. Took it back to the dealer and they said some of the set screws on the carb were not set properly. Its best to take it in. They also say that there was a sensor that some guy had issues with, not 100% the name of it or exactly where it was located, i just let the dealer handle it.

Ya its doin the high idles like 3500-4000, or almost dead and boggy at the bottom its odd. Set screws? wich ones? And where is the sensor,if you cant remember the name?
