Well here we go again, a couple of bad apples are going to shut down more trails. Out by Caroline over the long weekend weekend warriors chewing up the trails and rivers. Residence are fed up with the noise and cleaning up after they leave. They are possibly talking about daily or yearly trail passes to detour these kinda people. dont they think that we pay enough to insure and registrar are toys and I dont think a trail pass is going to stop people from tearing up the back country. there also thinking of making riding area's specific to atv's.
Maybe we need to come up with some ideas and present them to the srd or whom ever. Just my 2 cents and I'm pissed that another area is going to be shut down!!!

If you dig deep enough you will find that we ALREADY have laws in place that will fix this problem but they are not at all being enforced. For instance the max penalty for tearing up a wet land can be having your ATV confiscated for good along with a huge fine....ever hear of anyone having that happen to them? I think if the authorities strapped on a pair of nuts and strictly enforced these kind of punishments that are already law, then they might start to get the hint....but Nooooo let's just let the greenies shut it all down first. Phuckin weak I tell ya.

Correcto mundo!!! We're going about it the wrong way. Lose your quad and a $10G fine will make anybody sit up and take notice! IDIOTS!

The problem is that most of the SRD budget is being used on the pine beetle infestation problem, not much left over for recreation and enforcement.

Let the fines pay for the enforcement officers. The bigger the fines, the more enforcement until the problems go away and people dummy up. Add a surcharge to the fines handed out to cover the cost.

Curious if that would actually solve the problem (or at least make it negligible)??? Not trying to start a war on drinking and driving, but I think it's a good example. Every holiday season, we see larger and larger campaigns against drinking and driving, but every year we see more and more people getting caught in check stops. ...and that's even a criminal offence.

Here, some of these would work, especially the Malayasia one, can't even get away from her in Jail :):) And then the one in El Salvador would be a show stopper!

Australia:
The names of the drivers are sent to the local newspapers and are printed under the heading "He's Drunk and in Jail".
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Malaysia:
The Driver is jailed and if married, his wife is jailed too.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
South Africa
A 10 year prison sentence and the equivalent of a $10,000.00 fine
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Turkey
Drunk drivers are taken 20 miles outside of town by police and are forced to walk back under escort
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Norway
Three weeks in jail at hard labor, one year loss of license. Second offense within five years, license revoked for life.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finland & Sweden
Automatic jail for one year of hard labor
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Costa Rica
Police remove plates fron car
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Russia
License revoked for life
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
England
One year suspension and a $250.00 fine and jail for one year
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
France
Three year loss of license, one year in jail and a $1000.00 fine
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Poland
Jail, fine and forced to attend political lectures
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bulgaria
A second conviction results in execution
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
El Salvador
Your first offense is your last---execution by firing squad
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not sure we need to be that extreme on the ATVers, but lose your ride, stiff penalty and you'll think again.

Yeah, that's a good one. It might be especially effective if they're forced to share cells.

I take that back ...no one deserves that much torture.

True dat! BUT, there's stuff that is more acceptable and stuff that is less acceptable IMO. Leaving trash beind and blatent disregard for private property and protected areas is totally unacceptable. If we can mitigate negative attention in these big areas, maybe we'll get a little more slack in others.

I hope that no one here is suggesting that we can't have any fun at all.

Everyone wants and deserves fun. Respect the land and all that goes with it and there should be no issues. Be responsible, courteous and respectful as S&M purports and we can all make a difference.
