Wow does this bring back memories.....bad f'n memories.....

Came home four years ago minus 27, found water in the basement of our bilevel .
Called insurance and they would come out but won’t cover if the problem turned out not to be an accident of some sort.

Weird part was only got worse when you opened a tap in the house.

Had a plumber come with a camera and he thought he saw a leak in the tree where all the drains come together……jacked the floor apart, nope no leak, came back with the camera and found a leak outside the house just before the septic tank.
Built a insulated tarp shelter, heated and dug by hand, NOPE not the problem, while we were in the trench, and right by the weeping tile, someone turned on a tap, water was coming from the weeping tile…
Built another shelter over the well to the house, heated and dug, gas line runs right through there, once we exposed the line, I used a hoe and started digging….
What we found baffled plumbers and water well contractors, that I had called for advice, four of them came out to see it has no one believed me….
We had a hole about 5 feet in diameter filled with water that went right to the house, once we pumped the water out, the line from the pump to the house had a split and was leaking underground, till it eroded the dirt away till it got to the weeping tile, best guess it could have been leaking for a while and wasn’t till the weeping tile couldn’t handle the water and backed it up, pressuring the ground till it found a crack into the house….
Looked like the contractor 30 years prior kinked the hose and put it in any way, took 30 years of water running over the crease to cut it open….
That was one sh*tty winter…

It took us 4 weeks to get through the whole mess, had we followed the Plummer and water well contractor advice, with then doing the work; I’d have needed another mortgage…

:ThumbsupMsn:Here’s hoping yours goes better…..

Once you get it back filled you might want to think about piling straw bales around the excavation to prevent frost from migrating down and freezing you off. It will settle in the spring and you'll be fine after a little more shovel work.

So............... I looked at Home Depot tonight for parts, and there isn't SFA there. Any recommendations, where I might find what I need, when I see it?

south east Calgary call "Lean to Renew" he is a small time plumber, good at his job, that has connections. His name is Peter. He set me up with all my boiler and plumbing supplies when I built my house this spring. I'll look up his number for you in a bit when I have a chance.

403-813-4519 mention my name.

I called Peter, and used your name as a referral. He's happy to help me, once I know what the problem is.

You most likely only need two hose clamps & a 1 inch brass 90 degree elbow.....if it is leaking at the casing. Worst case a new pitless adaptor, in which case you will have to pull the pump and replace the pitless & then reinstall....you won't know till you get down there and investigate.

The operator has been running the tooth, for about an hour now. She said once she get's a ripping bucket on, it won't take long to V cut a pit, so it's safe to go in.
