I dont know what the fuss is about on the quick drive but we have two 2013s. one with 700 miles and one with 1500 miles. zero issue out of the quickdrive and both still have the stock belts. the other pros we ride with have zero issues as well. I would not hesitate to buy another one.

It's simple because the good news is never reported on sites. Typically people like to rant about their bad experiences only as it gives them relieve. Mine has close to 2000 miles now without a hiccup. Same quick drive belt, second clutch belt and stock sliders.

thought it was a grade 8 bolt?

The stock bolt is a grade 8. Some people have swapped put to a 10.9, ideally a 12.9 cap bolt is better.

There isn't a lot of fuss about the quick drive but many 15's and a number of 14's have shafts which appear to have pulleys that wobble on them. Mine for example is not wobbling at all. The pulleys all pear to be spec the same so it's the shafts which are slightly off and those are the ones breaking bolts.

The proper fix is to replace the shaft with one that is within the proper tolerances. The stronger bolts only delay the breaking if the wobble is really bad. There is enough there to also drill and tap for a 12mm bolt as well. Watch for TKI to have a better fix for those who have an issue.

Hey, atleast i got the bolt part right lol.
How can a guy check for this wobble on a preride inspection? Would I have to pop the gears off and see if I can move the shaft by hand?

You have to remove the quick drive belt. If you have rocking of the pulley before this point you have problems. The pulley should be tight with the bolt torqued.

Remove the bolt and check to see if there is any in/out play of the pulley on the shaft. A few thousand is max. Also look to see how far in the shaft sits in the pulley. Again a few thousand is fine. Any more and it becomes a bigger issue as the bolt and washer are only contacting the pulley when torqued as it never contacts the shaft.

I hate typing on my phone. Fixed a few words.

To many dootards hanging out in here. Haha

I have no issues with my belt drive at this point. It's just something to watch for. Just like I would check the tension of my chain every dozen or so I can check my belt drive pulley if it was an issue. But it's not. So I don't have to check it.

I have friends that upgraded 2012 pros to 2013s with the belt drive broke the belt in as required had no issues and said they did experience a perfor ance gain. They were lucky enough to have no issues with driveshaft until there update was done as well.

Is Poo aware of this wobbly issue and doing anything about it? Or are you on your own if you have a wobbly wheel?

Polaris has to know about it. I personally have not taken the issue up with polaris but I know there are owners on this site that have the issue. I have no idea where they have taken the issue.

I have know two people who have the issue. I have read about a dozen others. I have no idea if this is a wide spread issue or just those who have had it happen.

A friend of mine has broken two bolts off the lower pully on his '15 Pro this year and one guy had one go on his '14. I personally checked an SKS so i could get the chaincase just to be safe. Gonna put the higher grade bolt in my '15 spare.

It sounds like the bolts break when the pulley isn't tight on the splines of the jackshaft. So if you take the bolt out, the pulley needs to be solid on the jackshaft - if there is play, the bolt gets flexed every rotation of the jackshaft and eventually breaks.

And yes, I too snowchecked a Axys 3" so I could get the chaincase.

So here is what I know about the breaking bolts in the lower QuickDrive pulleys. As a Polaris owner and a distributor for TKI belt drives I have seen the issue first hand. The problem appears to be some out of spec drive shaft splines. If you get one of these, the pulley will rock on the splines and the rotate back and forth under the bolt head. This will wear the contacting surfaces and the bolt will either stretch or become loose. The pulley will then wobble on the shaft and stress the bolt until it breaks. I lost a stock 8.8 hard bolt on my 14 pro and then a 10.9 bolt on my 15 Pro at only 600 kms. My 15 is much looser than my 14 so I recently used Loctite 660 to stop the wobble on the shaft and then drilled and tapped to a 12 mm bolt at 12.9 hardness. I talked to a Polaris factory guy at the Expo in West Yellowstone when we went down last weekend and he said they are aware of it now and we should see something soon. The reality is that there are only likely a small number of sleds that have this problem but if you have one, do not wait for Polaris if your is loose. Check your torque and if it is loose expect yours has the problem. BTW Tom at TKI is working on a fix but he is unsure if he should do anything when it is a Poo problem. I am sure they will have it fixed for 2016 now they know what is going on.
