Completed AST1 this year with Zacs Tracs, awesome course that anybody spending any amount of time in the back country should take, much more confident in a rescue situation now and more confident in knowing snow conditions based on reports and use of snow pits and other tests where u ride

Have completed AST 1 a number of yrs ago. It is interesting when you mock practise with the buddies on the hill how it can get crazy really fast.

I am hoping to take the course this year, I'm sure some others are too. If you instruct these courses please post some info as to where and when. I would prefer the Edmonton area but post what you have.

Here is the 2015-16 schedule from Zac's Tracs. I'm sure you will find a course that will be close or maybe even in Edmonton. Frozen Pirates out of Valmont is another great provider.

Here is the 2015-16 schedule from Zac's Tracs:

I am sure you can find a date in their extensive listing to accommodate your needs. Frozen Pirates also offers good courses (as pointed out by Mikey many numbers) but I couldn't find a schedule for the upcoming year.

I did my Snowmobile AST1 and 2 this season with She Shreds Mountain Adventures in Pemberton BC. (It is for everyone, not just the Ladies) Haha! To be Honest, it was the BEST, I haven't heard of anything Avy related for snowmobiles before that and it was totally worth it. I feel like we got so much time on the terrain because of being able to move faster using the snowmobiles compared to my friends who did it on Split-boards or Snowshoes. It also puts you on a "real-life" snowmobile setting when it comes to travel safely through exposed terrain etc etc.
I recommend it to everyone!
