Avalanche fatalities are down in the snowmobile community this year thank god. Are we as a group better informed about backcountry awareness or is it just the poor snow conditions this season?

Good question to ask CAA. They may have a view on this topic. I`m just happy all our friends are coming home after their trips. Sorry to hear about the skiers but that can happen to any of us. Condolences to all those who have lost a loved one this season. Still way to early to be counting numbers. Lets hope for the best

Maybe guys like snowpro never have a sled that will take them anywhere high enough to cause a problem!

This is great to see. Sledders still only make up something like 15% of the people doing avy courses though.

unfortunately they media likes to focus in on reckless, irresponsible, adrenaline hungry motorsport enthusiasts like sledders because we are all bad bad people.

It could be a 100 skiers/climbers/boarders to 1 sledder and that 1 would get more media coverage. Okay exaggeration maybe, but it feels that way.

I dont really have any balls to begin with... The trick is.... To look at something and ask yourself..."theres a 90% chance I wont make that... But imagine how much cooler I would be than snopro and FS if I made it"

That IS great news Ken.
Unfortunately there was a fatality on the race track today out in Boonville.
Kind of dulled our spirits after NB Racing had garnered 2 first place finishes in F500 and Sprint 600.
Thoughts and prayers to family, friends and teamates and for our fallen brother.

Funny you bring this up, I am signed up with Lori from Zac's Tracks for my AST1 classroom and field course next weekend. I received a call from her yesterday. She stated that I am the only one registered for the classroom course in Valemount and that it will be canceled it more people don't jump on board. I am really looking forward to doing the field and classroom course so I hope it does not get cancelled. But if so I will be up there looking to ride so maybe I can meet up with some people to ride with.

Glad that you are signed up for the full course! It's good to see people being proactive instead of reactive.......... Most of the time the outcome of reactive is not real pretty..... See you in Valemount!
