thought if people take the awareness course, if they give some feed back then the instructors could learn what everybodies take is and then can know where to focus on in the course. yes i know it is nothing like the ast course but everybit of info you have can only help. the interesting aspect i found in the course was beacon interference, yes i know every year this seems to get discussed but marshal actually shows and proves the interference, yes he even proves cell phone on airplane mode and even shut off causes intereference. keep electronics a minimum of 30cm from beacon. yes at the course i also noticied people are lost when it comes to getting gear out of bag and ready to use, most peoples lives are minutes if buried so a thought is practise with your gear to be able to get it out and ready to use. my thought for people is who checks there beacon for distance? if you havent i have seen a few that seem to work at beacon checkers but had no distance so a thought is you should check yours. maybe if frozen pirates read this they could let a person know how often this check should be done. hope everybody gets a little info out of the avalanche awarness brp and frozen pirates is putting on .. just remeber this course is the basic it does not replace ast.
thanks brp and frozen pirates
