Since I didn't use the sled much I felt I could still get into the back
country on my own more safely and extend the season on both ends
Still been advised not to go alone since I'm retired it's been harder
to find people to go with on any schedule.

well im sure you will be fine on hard pack trails and a bit of powder, but i would stay away from the deep while riding alone. but on the bright side, im sure you have a winch. i wlouldnt worry about power steering!! youll be fine.. just dont go play in the muskeg with them or you will forever be burried

I was riding with a guy that had those tracks on a honda 500, it was a little under powered but did fine. The can am should have more than enough power for them, power stearing would be nice but they're not that hard to turn.
I had a set for my rzr but found them a little to rough in the summer but it would sure go through the skeg! :d:beer:

Hey SHAMDALEE, this is coming from someone who's been there and still is.
I live about 50 mi north of you, ride the same type of country, I'm retired, and have had tracks on a series of quads.

First ones were on a 300CC Polaris, slow but would climb great to 5500 ft.
Second ones were on a 455CC Polaris and was/is a great performer.
Third ones are still on a 550 Polaris XP with Power steering and it goes ANYWHERE that you point it.

Generally speaking your speed will be cut in half and fuel consumption will double, but go, you will.

If you have and questions, send me a PM and I'll try to help.

Thanks mongrol,
Did you get the tracks installed around here or Couer d' laine.
I have a price of $3,600.00 installed at Specialty recreation.

I bought them in 07 from the US distributor, ATVTRACKS.NET, in Spokane and installed them my self. Landed price in Canada was $3676.00. They have them on sale now for $3150.00 US $. Lots of deals out there if you like to haggle.

You sound like the typical Track buyer. Once a sledder, like getting out on your own occasionally and speed is not a criteria. 99% of my riding is alone and I put a lot of trust in what the tracks willl do and where they will take you.

Big engines have very little advantage due to the low gearing that the tracks have. Typically, you will probably find you travel at about 10-15 mph. Power steering is nice but sometimes cuts out in deeper wet snow.

If you get tracks, you're in for some fun in a different type of ride.
