Do atv license plates have to be visible? Clearly? (can i mount it under the rack or something)
(Alberta)

I know of guys that just leave it lay under the seat kinda idea, but i also dont think they have ever run into any cops to find out if they are legal or not.

I had no problem putting it in the license plate mount on my 660 grizz, but i want to now add a back up light, and have no place to mount it. Above it is the tail light, above that is the rack, not enough room in between. Below the license plate is my rear winch.

On my suzuki it was mounted just below the rear rack, and tucked inside but visible,. on my rhino it is screwed to the rear tailgate.

I only carry the paper work for this, but I know if you run into a dick cop or fish cop they can fine u for not displaying it. Thats what I have heard any ways.

I belive it has to be visable, mine is behind the front bumper, wich does hide it somewhat. Most fish cops are happy if you have one and don't care where it is. But they can be dicks if they want.

I was told that in alberta it is only needed to show that you have insurance and can prove you own it. Not that you need a licence plate that is visable,,,,,,,,, this may change with county laws??? this was from SRD in Rocky that told me this so that out of prov. machines can legally be guded by me.

I have gone threw 5 plates in 2 years on my yfz the Bolt mounts on the plate crack apart until it falls off so then i turn the plate upside down until it breaks then i get a new one. My last plate i just put under my seat and if i ever get a fine id be sure to go to court with all the broke ones in hand.

On my quad, its mounted on the rear fender. Not realizing, mounting it here, if one was running an agressive tire, the plate, and sticker would be un recognizeable before i left camp.:d They wanna check, scrub-adub-dub, its there and all legal, just dang dirty.;):d:beer:
