Went there today, it lack a lot of snow. the trail in is very poor. You can ride to the cabin but you will be riding on rock in a few places. Window mountain barely has a foot. Need more snow PLEASE.

After riding in Atlas today I need to post something here in hopes of alleviating a problem I noticed here and have seen in other locations as well. Before I start I have no idea if the person or persons that I have a bitch with are S&M members or not but I'm thinking the people responsible are at least outdoor enthusiasts.

Sometime between Sunday and today someone decided to put their little dick syndrome to the test and drive their 4x4 past the staging area on the unplowed road for 4-5 km. Now we all know what kind of ruts are left behind, we seem to encounter them every year somewhere. But today things took a twist that really pissed me off!! A family out sledding with their young boys(doubling) was travelling back to the staging area, not at a high rate of speed for obvious reasons, came around a corner and hit the tracks left by the 4x4. Out of control they go and one of the boys came flying off the sled, thankfully nothing more than some bumps physically but emotionally he really didn't want to get back on. Maybe that was the sole intent of the driver of the 4x4, to discourage someone else from enjoying the backcountry, who knows.

So I'm asking all S&M members to please be on the lookout for anyone driving vehicle's, other than sleds, past the staging areas. It's totally up to you if you want to mention to said azzhats how big of a d!ckhead they are being, if they don't really care to listen maybe a couple vehicle pics posted on here or in the local paper will do something to make them grow up. To the person who left the tracks in Atlas....For your sake it's a damn good thing I'm not the father of the young boy who was thrown off the sled because of your immature childish actions, lets just say you'd be sucking steak through a straw for a long GD time you selfish piece of chit!!

End rant...

P.S. The riding was pretty good...a decent amount of powder that hasn't hardly seen a track on it but still no real base to speak of yet...still need to tread lightly.

Maybe time to put some barriers on the road. It does seem to happen every year. I believe Devon has shut down everything up that way now so there is no real need for vehicle access. Thanks for the snow report.

because the snow condition are low the next assholes to ruin the trails will be the quads and sxs happens every year when they have low snow conditions.we were holding our poker rally one year and an a-hole showed up and unloaded his atv in the staging area and rode down the trail till he got stuck

They were logging up the Atlas in November and had the road plowed. I watched loaded logging trucks coming down the Atlas. It could have been loggers going to check out their site if they were not finished or forestry checking the logging plots.

I highly doubt it, the road hasn't seen a plow for a long time and I don't think they'd send anyone in a pickup on that kind of road, but I'm not a logger. I'm sure it was just some little p!ss ant.

It's pretty obvious when the plowing stops at the staging area and the only thing past that is sled tracks that maybe it's a good time to reconsider going any further, at least for the safety of others using the road.

Riding conditions are excellent. Some of the trails are a bit lumpy where they narrow out.

They weren't all like this but every trail we were on was in great shape. We were just trail riding...a rarely go off trail in atlas. If trail riding is your thing then last weekend was perfect. All of our riding was between the parking lot and the cabin.
