nice....one of my favourite places. the farther north you go it seems, the better the people get....just my experience.
lol...no, just that it's more likely a complete stranger will offer a smile, or helping hand when needed.does that mean the further south......we're not all that good....hahaha!!

Regarding the initial statement I tend to agree. Spent 20+ years north of the 60th and fully remember the highway through Indian Cabins, Steen River, and Meader River in the early 70's. All the south MacKenzie and the Inuvik area are familiar (Tuk, Paulatuk, Arctic Red, and Sachs Harbour).
I was just knee high to a grasshopper when my dad took us to Whitehorse in '52....that was quite a trip!!
cool.....lots of interesting history up in these parts. I come from a long line of truckers....been told many stories. I too was born in grimshaw, spent the first year of my life in zama....lolHere ya...nothing like the north and its people... paved alot of that highway myself....spent a few summers at Steen River/Indian Cabins haulin asphalt and soil cemet. Ever meet Steen River Steve? Quite the character....! Paved Pine Point mainstreet when there was still a town there...was born at mile 0 of the Meckenzie highway...tons of history there...too bad the meuseum at Grimshaw had to fold...that place had a ton of history there....great pictures of Yellowknife and area...just too damn cold up there...must be gettin old I guess. My dad and his brothers had a big history on the highway north...road many miles in a B-61 Mack on that road! My dad hauled the first fresh Japanese oranges to Fort Vermillion back in the day....lined his box of his 53 Chev grain truck with fresh bread and loaded the oranges in the middle and headed'er for Fort Vermillion at Christmas time. I tip my hat to all that trucked up there in those days...they paved the road for many of us!

I've been truckin myself for some 20+ years now, Zama is actually one of the better places (trucking wise) to work. not many hills, everything pretty close so it's pretty easy on fuel. zama isn't quite the azzhole of alberta, but you can see it from there....lol.LOL Teeroy at least it was your first year in Zama and not later....Been to a lot of places and spent lots of time there....thats one place I don't care for....nice place to be from! lol...

If Zama isnt the azzhole then what is?? lol

FT, MCMURRAY, hands down meets the #1 a-hole classification in my book.
thank you sir. I'm sure I have a lot more here somewhere, seems every time I head up there I stop and snap a few along the way. amazing how much the view changes thru the seasons, I'm pretty sure I have a bunch of pics of VW van-sized buffalo lounging on the side of the road too. they make the domesticated farm bison look like cattle....Teeroy....thanks for those pics bro...people have no idea how much beauty there is in the North....super great pictures and thanks for sharing....post more if ya got'em!

Man those falls are deadly, whoevers up for going over them in a swish barrell say I........:d
truth....it's very shallow beneath the falls. when the water isn't running hard like that you can see how shallow it is. here's a few more of Alexandra falls, these are from June '07couldn't imagine doin that....probrably be the last ride! lol...
