Top 10: Most Stolen Cars in Canada in 2014 | Car News | Auto123

Do you own an old Ford F-350 or F-250 pickup? If so, you should seriously worry about car thieves, as evidenced by the list of the most stolen vehicles in Canada in 2014 published by DesRosiers Automotive and Statistics Canada:
2005 Ford F-350 SD 4WD
2006 Ford F-350 SD AWD
2007 Ford F-350 SD 4WD
2006 Cadillac Escalade 4WD
2003 Ford F-350 SD 4WD
2006 Ford F-250 SD 4WD
2001 Ford F-350 SD 4WD
2004 Ford F-250 SD 4WD
2007 Ford F-250 SD 4WD
2001 Ford F-250 SD 4WD
Alberta had the most cars and trucks stolen in 2014 with more than 16,000. Since pickups are quite popular in Western Canada, that shouldn’t come as a surprise.
On the other hand, 2013-2014 Lexus RX 350 and RX 450h SUVs were the biggest target of thieves in Quebec, followed by the Subaru WRX. In Ontario, the Cadillac Escalade, Acura ZDX, and BMW X6 led the way. Meanwhile, thieves in Eastern Canada preferred the 2006 Ford Freestyle, 1998 Dodge/Plymouth Neon, and 2004 Ford Focus ZX5.

This isn't news? Superdutys were so easy you could steal them with a breadknife. When they got chipped keys like most other fords since 1998 it got a bit tougher.

I had an '05 F350 crew dually that was stolen last may. My insurance was always way higher because its the #1 stolen vehicle in North America. The cop I gave the report to said if the thief was any good he was probably in it and gone in 6 seconds! He actually did me a huge favour...the truck was a POS anyway!!

I was talking to a young rcmp officer at our staging area and its nice to see the presence of rcmp but we did have a rash of thefts in sicamous over the holiday season. tourists had there vacations ruined by loosing extremely new trucks and sleds and having to fly across the country with there vacation ruined . My neighbor had his trunk swiped while having Christmas dinner at the seniors center it was recovered but may be written off as the thieves damaged it . Mailboxes broken into. The reality is that there is really no consequences for thieves when caught. That needs to change.

I have a '06 F350 but has the immobilizer / alarm and it worked a couple years ago as they tried to get into it and set off the alarm. I watched the bastards take off pretty quickly in early morning hours.

I have an 06 f350 with immobilizer and alarm also had the door looks removed. Most thieves run when they hear the alarm,It doesnt make it such an easy target.

f150's since about 2000 had chipped keys, and can't steal easily, so crooks don't bother with them.... all the ford superduties(f250,350,450,550 650) up until 2008 never had chipped keys, and were very easy to break into(bread knife)the doors ad then pop off the ignition tumbler with a screwdriver and you're gone.... almost every vehicle out there since the '90's has had chipped keys, and crooks usually don't bother with those(unless high dollar vehicle like the loaded escalades). So some kind of an immobilizer is a good start, and I've even seen security stickers on windows and nothing else, and these usually are deterent enough. anti-break-in door handles are available for the superduties, to help deter breaking into the trucks
