Well, for example, Snoman (Manitoba) has a province wide trail pass. Passes are sold by the individual clubs, who give all the funds to Snoman., who then distributes the money to all the various clubs around the province to fund the grooming and maintenance in their local area. The distribution is proportional to how many passes are sold by each club - the more passes sold by your members, the more money Snoman throws your way that year.

It's easy for me to say "get this done!" but likely very difficult to get everyone on board. Just 0.02 from this 'ol boy :)

I would think that grooming in Manitoba might be just a little bit different than say Revelstoke, Golden, Fernie, Valemount, Crownest or Whistler. But maybe, just maybe you could join the executive of a sled club and help with the progress of the sport.

I can only imagine the role politics would play in the distribution of funds.

I'll be joining the Clearwater Sno-Drifters again.

I would think if the province had 1 association that each club belongs to, that the process would work very well.
Having 2 with different agendas makes er into a bit of a pipedream.

We have been revy club members for several years now, and try to lend a hand to the club whenever possible in various forms.

I will probably buy a Clearwater sno drifters membership, as I seem to do most of my riding around there.

I'll be buying a few memberships again this year. Honestly, what's $60-$100.00 to spend on supporting "Our Sledding Community". Even if I never get to all the place I have a membership, at least I know we have more #'s out there to help with anything needed.

i'll buy an ASA membership if someone buys an FSA membership!

i may take you up on that FS.... as it turns out, you guys aren't so bad down there;)

I'm in Doug  So if Summit X buy's one and I get one. That means you and your wife will need 2 from ASA :D

I personally have stepped it up another notch, this year I am the ASA Rep for the Alberta Beach Snowmobile Club, will once again join the Elkford Snowmobile Club, and likely will be very involved with all Snowandmud events throughout the winter season.

I can only imagine the role politics would play in the distribution of funds.

Isn't that the truth!

I talked to Chris from the SSA about this and he said they have a committee and a very comprehensive check sheet for the distribution of their funding. The more they groom (distance and frequency), the more members they serve, the more signage, the more shelters, etc., etc., the bigger the piece of the pie for the club.

I think a provincial trail pass is possible but like Dusty says, "budgets, volunteers, etc. are quite a bit different from club to club" and one has to remember that clubs like to have autonomy and doo their thing the way they want to doo it. What happens when there is no money in the kitty because it was used for something else? Been down that road before also......

Holy crap you guys are hard on the senior citizens. We buy one each for Elkford and Fernie (so we are both members of the BCSF and ABCSnow) and now you want us to buy two from the ASA?

But I guess I opened my big mouth first, eh!!!!

what would be really interesting is to see how many snow and mud members that sled belong to a club, I'm guessing rich at 25% belong.

We can work on that I`m sure.

Dusty I never started this thread Chris from the office did. Like you I just add to it because it is a major interest to me and I think you.

Golden or Revy membership this year.

Why doesn't AB have the sled membership tie in with the registration (like Montana)? I'm sure this has been looked into a bunch, just wondering....

Alberta is looking at this concept. Add $80.00 ontop of your registration $$$ and that $80.00 will go towards trail development. Heres the kicker.$$$ would go to all trails as long as some motorized component to trail. How much we don`t know. Also motorized users will be the ones paying NOT the hikers, skiers, horse users, mountain bikers or even the birdwatchers will have to contribute to this fund. Estimates are huge for this funds do the math add $80.00 to every registration for motorized users out there and the non-motorized trail guys are drooling at the idea that this money will be out there. Are trail groomers classified as motorized recreation and all X-country ski trails are now able to access this possible future fund??? Just wondering.

Now back on topic. Are you joining a snowmobile club??? Wherever you live.
