What didn't you like about the 300?

My buddy who had a FI 450 really wanted my 300 xcw for the woods so he talked me into trading ..

the 2 stroke works good, but it's very on or off.. no real part throttle action .. you are either putting around or on the pipe and full throttle if you wanna make any moves .. That and the carburetor is finicky ... i had mine setup pretty well but still, you tip it over a few times and she's grumpy for a while !

with the 4 stroke you can actually ride at part throttle, you aren't always pinned, use less gas and don't shake yourself to death after a ride.

I Also never rode my 300 in the summer because we just ride trials bikes here .. so having a plate-able 450 played a big role .. Gonna slap some motard wheels on her and let the hooliganism begin

It is interesting to see how guys look at it. I have a full worked on 300xc. I way prefer the powerband for snow than the 4 stroke 450s. I am not running off the rev limiter at 12k all the time. That 300 powerband is 4 to 8k. But then I ride it hard. If I was putting on miles exploring I would go with a 500. But I love mine for tree riding and boondocking.


We never said it was easy, just that it looked cool.

A bike opens up boondocking possibilities you can only dream about on a sled. Playing on the edge of tree lines, then actually cutting through them where a sled cant go. They are not for everyone, I would rent one for a day if you can. $350-$400 for a day. The new 850 Doo is $17,000 bucks. So the $400 is chump change

so what I’m hearing is that you can rent a bike for a day for the same money an 850 will costs you in belts? Neato!

Like guys are saying rent one for your group and give it an honest look. Too many say they can't do what a sled does well it does a lot a sled can't. Try not to compare the two cause they are very different. It's a very different type of riding. I still ride with fellow sledders and have no problem keeping up. Don't have to worry about shutes since they are crazy trees riders anyways. Next few years are going to see some real advancements. Will be exciting for sure.

rode my first snow bike this weekend, what a fawking blast. I ride a lot of hours moto in the summer so i never thought id ruin one of my bikes with a kit. just stick with a sled....Holy **** ballz it is a must try. I didn't want to give the bike back. I was ripping through trees like nothing. I'm overly impressed with how nibble a 450 with all the extra weight is. If i find a used set up over summer i'm going to slap up one of my bikes, now need to figure out what bike gets the kit. Also not sure whats going to cost more, diamonds to keep the wife happy or a yeti kit? anyone selling a empty Tiffanys box? maybe can put some knock of diamonds in it and be good for a few months...

I cannot wait till next year....so glad i figured this out before i snow checked a sled. My brother snowchecked a 2017 G4 and hes looking to sell an do a build as well.

Ive put alot of effort over the years into becoming a decent mountain rider on a sled, and can handle myself pretty well in alot of hairy situations and still im switching to bikes. I love the trees and hauling ass through them on a bike cannot be matched with a sled.

For the record i was one of the guys laughing when a snowbike rode by...... eating crow boys, eating crow.

Get 6 together and hit the tightest trees you can find, tough to beat. Got my Doo on order... time to find a way o justify a "cheap" snowbike....

Steeper learning curve than I expected getting off a sled and onto a bike. Been off dirtbikes for awhile but was a capable rider when I was still living in Kamloops and riding almost daily. I won't be changing to a snowbike yet but can definitely see the potential of them. I still want to push my skill level on a sled quite a bit further but maybe one day I will add a snowbike to the stable. Yes they are fun.

I think Main Jet in Nelson might have a used snowbike kit. Worth a call...
