Joey....first off this is not your thread....it is the property of Snow and Mud....

Why do you always start threads for answers and then continue to whine about the answers when they are not to your liking. There has been some very good answers to your question. If this is how you are at work, as a boss I can see why he gets mad. This new generation is all about me, and not about the bottom end factor. Personally you should read the post by Wheller it is very good and does pertain to all job situations not just the rigs. Now either you deal with it or stop your friggin whining about everything life deals you as it is going to get a lot harder as you get older........:twocents:

Joey, I'm a "boss" to my assistants and I can be a big jerk....why? Because its top down. If my assistants don't do something right then it comes back to me and becomes my issue...when it comes down to it my jobs on the line when others don't do their jobs............

Just sayin.....even if everyone hates your boss he's probably just doing his job....

Joey I was content to just read this but after reading your post I can't help myself. My first taste of real work was some what different than your's as in I worked on a freezer troller on the west coast of the QCI un like your self we worked on avarage 18+ hours a day for 14 days then we would catch up on some sleep for a day while we were in port, might even get a full 8 hrs, depending on if we got all the repairs done and what time the tide was running. We were wet and usually cold we were banged up and cut up repeatedly and our lives were on the line on many occasion. There were many times the skipper would lose his mind and have a total freak out and trust me when I say the old saying "talk like a sailor" would have had you in tears there is no HR department on the water. But we would shut up and work harder when we did our job right everone was happy and alive, and you know I would not have traded my experience for any thing because after 10 years of working on the water when I hit the land base job's my work ethic carried thru so many different jobs that I had no experience with just because they saw that I was willing to do my job and the other guys as well with no bitching, just getting done. So suck it up buttercup most of us have been there so to speak take advantage of ever oppertunity that comes your way to learn something new and it will eventually come out in the wash.

Young man, remember one of life's many lessons is that sh!t runs downhill. You're always gonna start at the bottom so if you don't want to deal with it you'll have to put your time in and work your way up the business ladder. WE WERE ALL THERE AT ONE POINT AND TIME!!!

i never whined about anyone's answers!! i just said that theirs better ways to deal with employees then yelling and screaming.

and its an insult to me that you sterotype me with this "new generation" , you people dont know me , never met me , yet ive been called lazy and slow and now selfish..........wow i'm glad i'm not part of your generation.:nono:

I had one boss many years ago explain that "you don't have to be an a$$hole to be a boss but sometimes you have to do a$$hole things" I never thought of it that way before but it makes sence. That being said I would have to say that I've had more a••hole bosses than not. So much so that I am 5yrs into substantial legal action as the plaintiff with one of them.
