Just so you know I am not accusing Polaris of lying about there weights Trench. I will however be shocked if there is a 60 lb difference between the XM and the Pro. If they are well then kudo's to you guys.

Just putting this out there, but if the Etec uses less fuel and they dont need to pack jerry cans, And you can carry and remove spare fuel very easily, then the extra fuel packing is really a mute point. But at the end of the day the etec is still packing that extra weight of the fuel that it never burns, and the Poo has burn't all of its fuel, then wouldnt the Poo be lighter than the doo by even more? Splitting hairs, I know. Unless of course if you start out with half a tank of fuel in the doo.

Your right its hard to measure features like that. Etec technology is not lighter, more wiring, more oil lines,fuel lines,pumps,pickups,sensors,injectors etcetc.

So like you said wash it. Its something that means a lot to me in a sled purchase. Efficiency and operating costs. So I'm willing to throw a few lbs on the line for it. After all im not getting any lighter so what does it matter lol. All you can do is weigh the sleds wet, figure out the difference in weight. Then justify to yourself is it worth this for that? Extra traction for extra weight? Extra power for extra weight? Extra efficiency for extra weight? Better quality product for more weight?

Just sayin...

I quit packing extra fuel and have headed up the hill with 2/3 of a tank.

i picked up a snowest magazine today and they have their weights from the 2012s full of fuel and oil ready to ride:

Pro RMK: 458lbs
Summit X: 489lbs

and thats on the 2012's so for the 13's skidoo is saying that the XM is 5lbs heavier(464 from 459) and the pro is supposed to be 14lbs lighter, so this year the pro should be exactly 50lbs lighter!!!! thats HUGE!!!
This is assuming the 13s gain the same amount of weight as the 12s from dry to rtr

Ski-doo(ready to ride) 494lbs / 165HP = 2.99 lbs/HP
Polaris(ready to ride) 444lbs / 153HP = 2.90 lbs/HP

should be a good year no matter what your riding but i would think that the summit would wear you out a lot more with that extra 50lbs, the power does you no good when your not right to the nuts, so i would think this would give the polaris a huge advantage in the tight technical riding where i like to be.

you would think so wouldnt you. but it doesnt. ddid you read the article or no? if you beleive there dribble then it says right in the article that the xm feels lighter than the pro. even though it is not

Well I will admit I do like knowing my sled is lighter than my buddy’s etec but that not the reason I bought it. IMO how the sled makes the rider feel is way more important than its weight, for me there was no choice the Pro makes me feel like I am in control the etec was nice to ride but I didn’t have the same level of confidence in my ridding abilities on it.

Besides we all know that it would be allot less fun having everyone on the same machines, the back and forth banter we share on the hill is half of the fun.

I know this thread is about weight and as I have said it before if anyone has a scale and wants to weight some sleds I have a new pro and overhead hoist ready anytime.
