Just spoke with Carmen (she's putting this ride on). We are in a different area. She is aware of the area you had mentioned, which is good

If anyone wants to tag along. I'm meeting a few others at Wheelers (Esso station on Highway 2, by Legal).
Leaving Wheelers around 830am.

A few from today's gong show. (That doesn't quite sum it up to what it was either).
The folks in the Rzr did a polar plunge.
Had a fire to dry them up. And gave them some extra clothing and boots. And whatever we had.

Then made the bad decision to drop down a fair sized hill, with lots of snow.
That lead into a short little valley and lots of snow and steep little climb out.

The quads made the climb. The rzr was too low. Kept high centering.
Decided to turn around.

Part way up the hill we dropped in on, the defender blew its belt. Winched it the rest of the way.

Then between there and the road we towed it to, snapped two winch lines. A couple tow straps and my paracord tow strap (from tied up paracords).
In that time frame the front passenger axle broke on the defender (as it was being towed), and the tie rod bolt snapped. He'll need a new tire and rim.

Got back to the trucks with gas lights on. Then
Had to drive over to where we left the defender and load it up.

Was an adventure today.

Was a long drive to sit in the truck. Lol.

So last weekend, I installed new demon axles. Went pretty good I thought.
Moved the machine back and forth in my quonset a few times. The noise was gone. Felt pretty good.

Loaded up last night. Drove down to Nordegg this morning.
Off loaded. Drove around the truck. And as I was passing the front of my truck. Something felt odd. I wrote it off as the ruts I was on.
Through the ditch around the gate and onto the trail. There is a small incline. Again Something was wrong. But I chose to ignore it.
As we were headed down the trial every time I let off the machine would get squirrely on me. Still I chose to keep on.
At the 8km mark there was a wee little mud hill. I couldn't climb it. It was embarrassing.
Finally decided this "something wrong" needed to be looked at.
Broke an axle.

So limped it around a bit. Then decided I'd hang at the truck. Let everyone else ride around.
I went for a nice little walk. Enjoyed that.

Then I get home and looked at the boxes the new axles came in
And noticed it clearly states. LEFT REAR on one box and Right Rear on the other.
I find the part numbers on the axles and yeah. I put them them on the wrong side, cause I Assumed both were the same.

We know all what Assumptions mean.
Crap.
My own stupidity on this one.

So in the market for another set of Axles
This time I will make damn sure I put them on the right sides.

So today was a bust. Hope to be riding on the long weekend

Dam, oh well i am sure most of us have done this at some point while repairing stuff, i know i have. Human nature to learn by mistakes not by our success's. Looks dry out there in Nord country will be heading out there sometime in the near future to do some touring.

Well thats too bad, live and learn. Your crew like the area ?
Sure did.
Will have to plan a camping trip down there. And a few days of riding.

It was good too as now there know it really isn't that far for a day trip. Lol
