Is this at me or the general audience? I'm fine if the cops want to use their gun as a spotting scope or if they want to get the dogs out, or whatever. You guys are forgetting that the cops have to legally justify using "reasonable force" for whatever situation they are in, so if they bust out the Bomb Squad and attack dogs to pull you over for a parking violation you better believe they know they will get in **** for it and likely wind up in a lawsuit, they will only use whatever force required. Similarily they will get in **** from their superiors if they call an "all cars" bulletin out for some kids doing graffiti. They only have limited resources to respond to any given situation. They know this and they know the law so keep that in mind. At this point we have no clue why they had the gun out, what they were using it for or what kind of gun it even was, all we have is something someone saw from a distance. Did the gun even have bullets in it? Why are we speculating then?

I agree with you FS, buddy was running from a dui suspension and god knows what else in the past, a seatbelt infraction was the least of his worries probably, it was only a matter of time. Go check the field maybe you will find some ziploc bags of green or white stuff that got dropped while running away....

On August 12 at approximately 3:30 a.m., Leduc RCMP, Leduc Fire Department and EMS received a report of a fire in the Cedar Woods apartment complex. RCMP members immediately responded to the call and located a 25 year old Leduc woman suffering from severe burns. Initial investigation indicated that the woman’s burns were caused accidentally. The victim was assessed by EMS on scene and transported to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton.​

After extensive follow-up investigation by the Leduc RCMP, Leduc GIS and Leduc Fire Department, it was revealed that the victim’s boyfriend, identified as Tyrell Lee, 23, from Leduc had intentionally set the victim on fire after violently assaulting her.

As a result Lee was arrested and has been charged with:

- Attempted Murder
- Assault
- Aggravated Assault x 2
- Uttering threats x 4
- Arson with Disregard for Human Life
- Uttering Threats Against a Person x 3
- Failing to Comply With Probation Order
- Breach of a Court Order


On August 15, Lee appeared in Leduc Provincial court where he was remanded in custody.
The victim’s identity is currently being withheld but is receiving extensive assistance from Victim Services, various health and community agencies, as well as police.
The accused remains in custody with his next court date set for October 17 in Leduc Provincial Court

Popo don't roll without bullets. Ever. There would have to be an articulable reason why a rifle came out in a situation. Read a newspaper lately? This guy would probably find himself charged (pointing firearm, etc). Thats the world we live in...which i don't totally disagree with.

Was just leaving my house in Airdrie on my way into Calgary this morning when two cop cars went past me hell bent. They headed south through Airdrie. I proceeded to head for the HWY and headed to Costco to fill up with gas. On the way I saw 5 cop cars and Suv's were set up around the field Just North of the Lowes. As I drove by the one cop had what looked to be a sniper rifle (I don't know guns that well) draped over his hood and was looking through a massive scope. The front of the gun had those legs like an A frame. I went and got my gas and proceeded to head to Calgary as I seen more cops surrounding the field. Anyone hear anything???

Those legs on the front of a Riffle are known as a Bi-pod for stabilizing your shot more accurate .. sounds like gong show

Cops are being more milatarized everyday, armed cars, Larry's dreaded machine guns, etc. Not sure why they think they need that much force.

I respect that you are entitled your opinion, but I disagree. It's a constant witch hunt for police these days. The standard is so low. Of course, my two cents.
