Anyone hear what happened just North of Cross Iron Mall this morning?

Was just leaving my house in Airdrie on my way into Calgary this morning when two cop cars went past me hell bent. They headed south through Airdrie. I proceeded to head for the HWY and headed to Costco to fill up with gas. On the way I saw 5 cop cars and Suv's were set up around the field Just North of the Lowes. As I drove by the one cop had what looked to be a sniper rifle (I don't know guns that well) draped over his hood and was looking through a massive scope. The front of the gun had those legs like an A frame. I went and got my gas and proceeded to head to Calgary as I seen more cops surrounding the field. Anyone hear anything???

lol, and yes . there was a gas station robbed in red deer last night, guy was shot in the arm and face, maybe they cornered the shooter. and trashy is on the loose.

was the fas gas in west park red deer. so if the guy is located or caught he will go down hard. no idea if balzac xross iron mills is involved, but from what i have seen elsewhere, may be?

looks like the cross iron incident was due to a guy who had no licence, got pulled over and decided to flee.

red deer shooter is still at large, shot a gas station attendant with a sawed of shot gun. victim was shot in the hand and face and airlifted to calgary by stars.

haha, not for the seat belt infraction, the guy decided to run, he was under a dui suspension.

fyi the airdrie highway patrol don't monkey around. hands up means right now.

Two things crossed my mind when I seen the cop over his hood with the rifle. One, Damn must be a serious threat to have that kind of gun out. Two, if it is that serious why can I drive right past him and why is the entire area not closed down.... Then I thought I wonder if he is just using the scope to look around which seems to be the case.... ever heard of binoculars??

i agree with fernie, if he hadn't run, he would have got an appear before the judge notice, but the police have no idea who the guy is, so they assume the worst , i'd guess. otherwise why would you be running from a seat belt ticket.
