Any serious issues reported for the 2012 RMK's?

just picked up from the dealer and they are uncertain what caused it but the frog skins are installed and it's running fine?


Sorry but this may not be such a sharp question but what are you guys calling FROG SKINS, cause I own one of these new 2012 Pro's and I havent even moved it yet so I wouldn't know weather it is top knotch or not!!! But I am heading to Valemount here in the very near future so what ever I need I need to get it done soon!!

On the Arctic Cats if you are running in deep snow moisture can get into the throttle cable which then freezes and makes the throttle cable a bit sticky. They then go into limp mode as a safety feature for obvious reasons. Must be something like that on the Polaris sleds as that sounds like your problem given that you were in deep snow and given that it ran fine after being in the trailer with the heater on. When you are running in really deep pow and you are even upside down on the odd occasion there is no end to the wierd ch!t that will happen with some sleds (water in the ECU sensor tube, venting and air intake issues, back pressure on the exhaust discharge, etc.).

I have a '12 Pro and for two days in deep pow, it ran flawless. Haven't been out again but so far, so good. I have read on another forum about TPS plugs not being properly installed on some sleds allowing moisture into the connector. I checked mine and it's fine.

no issues with my 2012, I don't haven't had issues with alot of snow going into the engine bay so I won't be putting on frogskins. I'd say ride it first then in deep powder then decide if you need them.

Saw one get towed outof boulder thurs. We heard it was something in the drive system. Never really found out

the major issue with these sleds is the flipper. i had 2 out this weekend. one with the stocker track and one with the camo extreme 2.5. could sure see and feel a difference with that track on. getting close to keeping up with the new etecs. not quite..

TIM on Snowest posted that the drive shaft broke on his Pro in Revy on the weekend. That may be the one you saw. Sure hope that doesn't turn out to be a common occurence.

not too sure on his but it wasn't a major anyway, even in limp mode throwing codes he got a day of riding in and had fun, cost to repair was nothing and it must have been a fluke thing as both 2012 RMK's were in the same conditions and one was flawless and one wasn't, looking forward to trying one of them out this weekend:)

Probably him, he said it might be the drive shaft, but he got towed out, and his track was spinning, so maybe it broke on the spline??

One thing I didn't like were the footholds. You need a size 8 boot to fit in them. A wider running board is also needed. Other than that I liked how it felt, you can sure notice the narrower track too though.
No way the PRO RMKs are the chit.

Thanks Cuso, I have loved my Polaris sleds the last few years, but I do agree that the toe holds suck, they are dangerous. I wrecked my knee when my foot got stuck on the toe hold and I fell off. I have modified my sled so that this can never happen again, but this is a design flaw for sure in my mind!!!

Size 14 HMK's with no problem, maybe they are too big to get stuck lol.

Size 12 Klim adrenalines and I don't have issues. I also don't mind the narrow running boards, my last sled was an XP. It's all preference though.
