Just wondering if any poker rallies are coming up. I heard a rumor that Caroline may be having one right after New Year's Day.

Do you have to be a member of the Caroline club to attend the poker run ? Never have done one yet...how long of a ride is it ?

don't have to be a member, may need a day pass? open to anyone that wants to ride. usually around 50km? don't need extra gas, they have warm up stns at the draw stops, suggest starting early to get ahead of quads, as they are slow and get in the way(stuck)
Not sure of the snow, heard of 1.5 to 2 feet, if it's been pounded out it may be rough,

Hi, I have gone to this rally for years, usually the hills get polished up and it turns into a gong show...the best machine to take IS a quad...with studded tires or chains..it's pretty hard on a sled...and be prepared for lots of delays..otherwise it's lots of fun

Without a good base it can get a little icy, sleds can usually get threw ok, as long as quads go a little later, as the trails are narrow. Hopefully they have all the creek xings marked, as they can be dangerous?
This is put on by the elks club so who knows, been out a few times before and signage was a little lacking. It's a charrity event, but participant safety should be # 1, as many are not familiar with the trails/terrain.

I just e-mailed James Brady from the Croline snowmobile club to try and get some details...but you're right, this event is put on by someone OTHER than the Caroline snowmobile Club...and therefore they allow quads, side-by-sides,dirt bikes, pretty much anything with a motor on it...the hills and gorges DO get poished up and sen a few wrecks as a result...when you get 200-300 riders hit a trail it gets pretty beat-up! I'll keep you posted...

That's too bad. Guess we won't be going after all. Getting too old to beat myself up on a trail tore up by quads:(

there is supposed to be 1.5 ft of snow quads may have a tough time around the track, should all be stuck at the first hill.talked to eent organizer, said there were no tracks on the route, but had to clear trail of downed trees.

About 150 showed, with 18 " of snow, not a bad ride, Quads had fits on the hills, -26 in the morning with -10 in the afternoon. trails were not bad, a few narrow places.
May try the onion, hummingbird trail this week, must be enough snow out there.
