Any one switch from a xm to acts?

This may have been discussed but I couldn't find anything, I'm looking for feedback from people that have went from an xp/xm to an axys chassis, I've been riding a 163"xp with the s36, post forward mod, t motion and 3"track and I'm looking at getting a 2018 163"le .i haven't even tried one yet but I can't stand the look of the 850s so this is where I'm at. Any feedback and experience is appreciated

Well I can tell you a xm is totally different than a worked up xp still, and a 850 is even different than a xm

I have spent quite a bit of time on a xm as well and yeah they are different , but I found the biggest difference was the power

To answer your question.....no, it has never been done. Once a man has the good sense to buy a ski-doo, why would he make the irrational decision to buy a polaris? Doesnt make sense.

Lol, I'm buying a new sled this week and this does not help, I rode an 850 for about 15 minutes and I loved the power and didn't hate it, I just wish they weren't so ugly. I've watched a few good rider make the axys work well just never had the chance to ride one. I'm just hoping to hear from someone who's made the switch. My local dealer has one that I want but I keep second guessing the decision

I'm thinking the same for the 850's. There is a reason there are so many in the hills and I am sure ugly isn't in the discussion. But then again everyone has an opinion........

I had a 13, 14 and 15 XM, then bought a 16 Axys. It was certainly a change, you can't ride them the same way or you will have poor results. Once i had a few rides on the Axys i was very happy with it, 2000 trouble free miles.

I rode a 13 XM for a couple years, then rode a Pro for one year, and now I have two years on a 16 Axys. I've kept the Axys and am running it again this winter - my first time running a sled three years in a row. I think it's a good sled, really like the way it handles after doing narrow A-arms and shocks.

Don't listen to these two farts, they are so brainwashed that they would have you believe you would be happier on a '76 TnT 340 than an Axys if you listened to them. Why they hang out in the Polaris section all the time baffles me, dreaming I guess

Everything you have on the XP, S36, t-motion, post forward and so on are "fixes" to that try and improve the sleds handling characteristics. Been there done that, have multiple shirts that prove it. I have had a few XP's, still have an XM and a Pro and an Axys. I would even have a G4 if I thought it was something I would want to ride full time but I don't like it. Trying to compare either of the XP/XM to the Axys is just about night and day for various reasons. Some people will prefer one over the other and that is fine, if there was only one brand of sled it would be a pretty boring world. Choice is great!

For me the biggest noticeable difference on the Pro/Axys vs the XP/XM is the way you ride it. Rather than counter steer a lot you point and shoot where you want to go using more body English and weight transfer, there is more shoulder/upper body use with the RMK. The RMK will tend to keep moving when washed out vs the XP/XM that tend to get to a point where once washed out they stop moving forward in steeper terrain. This is a characteristic I have never liked about the Doo's.

The XM will initiate side to side movements easier, but of course it will, its 36" ski stance and Tmotion with flex edge track vs 40" Axys stance and rigid suspension are meant to do such. The 800HO Axys motor is down on power vs the Etec. The Etec is a great motor, but where I find I spend most of my throttle life is in the mid range and both sleds perform well and maybe I would even give the edge to the Axys motor in stock form.

Fit and finish has been great on Doo's lineup for a long time. Polaris has improved but it isn't as refined. When I am bashing sleds off trees all day I am not worried about it, which I found I rarely find myself out of position or in nasty situations with the RMK vs the Doo's.

If you prefer the ride style of the XP/XM I would stay with it. I hated the Pro when it came out, felt too much like the IQ/Dragon which I could never ride, but I forced myself to ride a Pro because I watched the people I ride with gain confidence and ride better on them than they ever could on the Doo's at the time. I can't even figure out a Doo product any more, it feels foreign. If anything I find the Axys sucks on flat ground, they tend to trench more, that can be just limiter set up, where the Pro popped out of the snow better from a stand still, but once on edge works better and with less effort.

You dont count! You can out ride a guy on a 850 with your 600 axys, Lol.

Id like to try a axys for a weekend and give it a fair chance. Its tough to take a sled for a short rip and make a decision from there.

That sled looks sweet! Poo definitely has better snow check options than doo.

Is a pipe set that much of a difference on these sleds? coming from doo doo, I was always told(read) that the best pipe on a doo was stock?
But every body here on Polaris seams to rave about a few brands .

Sometimes things sell well not because of some attribute (square wheel wells) but in spite of them Styles come and go. GM was very big on tail fins on cars at one point. What one finds appealing is a personal matter. After years of being boring as porridge styling Lexus has gone the other way and now has changed their SUV's into something you might see on Star Trek. That monster hourglass grill either generates a very positive or very negative reaction. I like it as much as I did flared jeans in the early 70's.

The new 850's are a beautiful thing to look at IMO but the other sleds look pretty good too. Reliability always tops my list as if it is in the shop, it is not in the snow. Hope that the success some had with their 850's (I think you were one of those FS) is repeated this year with everyone who owns an 18.

It seems like the Axys format has generated quite a bit of buzz year before last. Seems like it would be worth a look.

I went from a 13 XM to a 16 Axys. I agree with everything Takethebounce said above. I found for the way I ride, I feel more comfortable on the axys then I ever did on my XM, specially in the trees. It holds a line better than my XM. I put Raptor shocks on the Axys, as my XM had revalved and resprung shocks, which is some of the best money I have spent on any sled. Jaws pipe with clutching as well, I feel now it has the same/similar power as my XM as per my thumb dyno. Only issue I've had so far is I had to adjust the TPS, which made a world of difference in the way it runs. You'll be happy with the sled once you become used to the way it rides, which it will probably take a few rides to get used to
