We haven't had a "garden" for quite a few years. Lots of perennials and some garlic in Elkford but due to the elevation/cold it was difficult. A new leave has turned in the Shuswap! Only made 3 raised beds this year and we will be evaluating the process over the summer. Lots of room to expand and experiment. We are not looking for big production and volume but more like something to do and a little fresh veggies just out the door.

What has everybody got going on in the garden??????

Hauled two dump trailer loads of farm compost last week to level and fill my wife's garden. The kids helped her plant it on Monday and we have been soaked with rain since Wednesday.

Not a real big gardener. If it grows it grows.

Usually just end up with potatoes
Tomatoes, onions, carrots
Hot peppers.
Doing pumpkins this year.

No green thumb here. Greasy thumb instead. Leave that stuff to the missus.

We do a garden every year. Still eating spuds and onions from last year. 2/3 of garden is spuds and onions every year, the rest being beans, peas, carrots, lettuce, and sometimes squash.

Any of you guys/gals have issues with the wild life eating your treasures?

Fences/chicken wire for the gardens?

There is some thing to worry about especially the garden we have behind the park but nothing so far, however that flock of 60 geese were eyeing it up. The one in this picture is being invaded by mice...i am fixing it that this year. The garden in our spare lot has no animals but the soil is poor. Seed sales this year was great but i IMG_20190704_114433314_HDR.jpg n hindsight we should have kept them all.

No it is not, i am not great at taking pictures it is all i have. That is a shot only covering 1/4 of the garden. I could go out and take the spare lot right now though. We are in a pretty bad zone for growing though. 2b-3a
