First of of all which tranny? Dodge has made a few lemons over the yrs. I'm going to guess 48re 2004-2007.5 Cummins

I think it's original.
The fluid looks and smells ok for the miles. 265k
It's slipping he's or shifting in and out of lock up sometimes so I'm kind of afraid it's mechanical.
I may do a flush and add a can of mechanic in a can.
Don't suppose it can hurt.

No, it's behind a 5.9l gas.
46RE maybe?
It's off to a trans shop I think.
I can't fix it myself so......

Mines a 12, 5.7 l 6 speed, same code at 150,000km , had the tranny rebuilt, had to bring it back 6 frickin times in 5 weeks and after the warranty was up it started doing the same the thing again. While it was under the rebuild warranty, they replaced the torque converter ( with a brand new one from Dodge ),reflashed it and replaced the wiring harness. It normally runs at 1700RPM at 110 KMPH, I know is slipping when it goes to 2000 RPM at 110KMPH. It only starts slipping after I've been driving on a snow covered road or gravel. If I turn the truck off,it resets itself until the next slippery surface. Tranny was rebuilt by a shop in west Edmonton, not impressed at all.

Mines off to a transmission shop in Cranbrook tomorrow.
They think it may be electrical.
Fingers crossed its not too expensive and can be fixed in one visit.

Not sure how different it is from a gas half ton one from those years, but I know the half ton had issues with a shift solenoid.

Well, that was a huge
Fricken bust.
$650 later the trans ahop suggests replacing the spark plugs as they have caused the torque convertor to take a dump.
$1600 to replace and then there is still no guarantee...
Time to sell the truck I suppose.
Man, I miss driving a company truck!

That was a common issue in earlier dodges, didn't realize it still was in the 3rd gen chassis. The converter lockup doesn't work due to noise in the electrical system. Try wrapping the TC lockup wiring to insulate it.
