Debating whether to keep my 2010 and put a 3" under it, or just cut my losses and get an xm. Curious how much I am looking at getting out of my sled, and if its worth pulling any of the aftermarket stuff off and selling it separately? Sled works unreal, just thinking a change would be fun.

Yeah you kinda do need to extend it, especially if your thinking 3". you want as much snow as possible to be thrown into your exchanger.
Van amburg makes a nice tunnel/bumper extension.

If you really want to do the 163 cut your losses and get a new sled.

By the time you buy the track, rails, extend the tunnel you are into it for another $1500. Considering the tmotion at all? Another $350.

I did the extended sled thing on a sled a few years ago. Now I just prefer to buy the right sled the first time.

You have enough mods on your current sled that if you still have the stock stuff for you could sell the aftermarket stuff to recoup some costs.

The XM with the etec alone is awesome. Now with the 860 and 880 overbores out there you can really up your game.

you can probably get in the 10k neighborhood for your 2010 and a 3" with drivers is gonna be 1600 plus you figure in rail and tunnel extensions another 450. So you can pay $2200 bucks and have a 2010 customized for you, that will go anywhere any probably further than a new stock XM will go, or you can sell yours and put maybe 4 or 5k with it and have a new Etec XM and start customizing from there.
i paid $14300.00 plus $1622.00 for my XM 163 with Estart and 3" track ( tax in ) I will probably get $500 for my take off too though.

So Im not too high on price wanting to take home around 9000 then as is? I really dont want to start tearing things apart. Sled works unreal as is. Thats why im humming and hawing so much about getting an xm. Ive definitely ruled out doing anything else to this one. Its either ride it as is, or get an XM if I can get enough out of this one.

AH forgot to suggest what you might get for it.

Personally I think $10,000 is high. A brand new 2013 Sport with the 800/154 is $9800 plus taxes. Toms rear set up with the Evols, the skinz airframes, head, clutching and track are basically worth half of what they were new once on the sled. So a conservative $1500 in upgrades.

$9000 might be a better start spot, if you want to move it quicker. I'd take the first $8500 that came along.

Guys are having a tough time getting $6500 for 08's, $7500 for 09's I think its reasonable to figure $8500 for a 10.

If I was looking for a Ptek today, would I rather invest $9000 into yours or take a brand new one with warranty for a little over $10,000?

Put it up for sale, if it sells when the snow starts flying go pick up an in season XM.

I'm in the same boat with my 09, lots of add ons, hoping someone will appreciate a sled already setup. The new summit sport is killing the used sled market!!
IMO a 3" is not worth it unless its a 174. I did the 162 3" and it has lug durability issues, and certain snowmobility issues I did not like, don't get me wrong I did like the 3" but not in the 162.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Ill probably end up keeping it. I doubt anyone is gonna pay me 9k for it and I just cant see going any lower. Ill probably just ride it and keep it as a second sled if I get an XM. :beerchug:

I think we all are going to be suprized at the 2014 sled that comes out. IMO i think the 2013 was a bandaid for this year and they have something alot bigger coming.
Not enough changes for BRP for the 2013 and still not hitting the mark as far as weight compared to Polaris.
Have a 2010 done to the 9s and wouldn't change yet.
As Caper has said i wouldn't go 3'' unless it was a 174 and different rear skid but thats just me. Can't see why peeps would want the 156 in 3'' as it is just going to be that much harder to keep lugs on and the front end down.
My two cents.

I would hope BRP gives Poo a few seasons to test out there glue and carbon everything to see what the durability is like before they jump back into the weight game.

Remember, we already went down that path and the sleds had to get heavier one again.

I don't want to jump into a bunch of 2014 rumours but I don't see any motor changes, they will never get into a larger bore than the 800, maybe, just maybe they will give a redesigned bulkhead/suspension module change, but I highly doubt it.

Count on the 14 being the same as the 13 which is fine by me.
