Another option to a Torklift receiver and hitch?

With my camper and cat hauler I'm in the need for a 32" hitch extension. After calling all around town, the only option given to me was the Torklift setup.
It's going to cost me around $1850 for the recover, extension and camped rear tie down.

Any other option out there?
Currently I have a class 5 2" receiver.

Check out brima services 7804764766, was where I ended up getting mine with a 28" extension hitch and rear camper tie downs was 1200.

The torque lift is well worth the money if you were closer and had a Ford I would sell you mine as it is in my garage collecting dust.

I finally sorted it out.
I picked up a 2 1/2 reciever and then purchased the Reese 24"-34" extension

Only need 24"
Supports 8000lbs at 24"

what did that reduce your tongue capacity by? I had to put a 6" extension on my rig after someone put the rear left corner of the sled deck thru the front right window of the holiday trailer and according to the tag on the extension it reduces tongue capacity by quite a bit.

He put on a 2.5" receiver which is stronger than a 2" receiver. We are seeing more and more of the 2.5" lately.

At 24" extension it's 8000lb towing and 800lb tongue
With the 34" extension it's 6000lb towing and 600lb tongue, I believe.

Add a weight distributed hitch and bars and you can increase the carring capacity....Pioneer hitch are the guys to talk to ......


On another note....purchase a Helwig sway bar and Firestone air bags and you'll improvre the ride and stability of your truck....Helwig also makes a pro series progressive set of overload springs....

I have to agree with you on that one Tex. I would hate to be the driver of that rig when the tail starts to wag the dog.

I run the 24" extension
Tork-lift makes a 42" extension.

I just got the Firestone air bags and will look into the sway bar.

good idea. even with 24" you're out there a ways. Cross winds would make driving like hearding coyotes.

It should be no different the having a longer truck.
Not sure why you feel it would drive worse?

a thing called leverage. the farther away from the fulcrum a forcce is applied the less force that is required to do the same amount of work. Think od your rear wheels as the fulcrum. Apply a sideways force on your hitch at the bumper. Now apply the same force 24" out (effectively lengthening your lever). You get the picture.

According to the hitch guys at Pioneer the difference is the 21/2" reciever.....Ress makes a bolt on 21/2 that places it under the existing 2" so if a guy wanted to you could do something like the Torqlift super hitch/truss .... only a lot less expensvie than Torqlift...


The 24" dosent scare me, the 48" I have some servations how about a 60"...... now thats just plain crazy

Is there anything special about the 2.5" square tubes sold by Reese? last i saw they seemed way over priced and i intended to by a heavy gauge 2.5" square tube from a place that sells steal products - about 1/3 the price
