Amsoil

I have always used the BRP full syn in my ETEC. Has anyone ever used the amsoil in your ETEC if so what are your thoughts?

I used co-op xls synthetic after the first 200 km or so ( got a 4 l jug of doo xls) , it smells, looks ect the same as doo oil.... My buddy has over 7000 miles on his 740 mod motor bottom end


It's 38-40 bucks for a 5 l jug... If u wait till say the next month coop has a 15 or 20 % off oil sale, I bought a case lasted me 2500 km

My new 14 XM I used the SKI-DOO synthetic oil - after the first jug was empty I switched to Amsoil Interceptor and no issues 1500km later.

I run Amsoil Dominator in my Etec with no issues.

i never had a problem running amsoil oil, but some engine builders threads started to make me wonder. tried the shell oil, was getting expensive, have been using the co-op oil the last while. seems to be ok so far.
amsoil is good oil, get yourself a dealer number and get it cheaper.

My dealer said I can use any oil in my 2014 xm and they will warranty the motor except for amsoil. So if you got warranty I would talk to your dealer first.

Pretty sure they can't deny you warranty on that, and I know they can't in the USA. Haven't heard of anyone challenging them on it yet up here.

I started a similar thread last year and got a bunch of the same answers you are getting so far. I run Inteceptor in my sled all year and will continue to run it. When I asked my Amsoil dealer about the warranty issues, he said he'd like to see a dealer try a void a warranty due to Amsoil being used. The guy has been with the company for over 20 years and certainly knows his oils.

My father has been an amsoil dealer for around 20 years and worked as an automotive instructor at NAIT for 40 years and printed off a report he was given from amsoil about this issue. It was an approximately 30 page report comparison between BRP oil and amsoil. It basically proved that amsoil is not worse and in fact better than BRP oil and if they tried to deny warranty claim because of amsoil use then amsoil would be in a position to charge them with slander.

If it was a failure due to the type of oil used, yes the manufacturer can void warranty. It would have to be the oils fault though, not a line, pump etc. Having said that Amsoil, Ipone and probably more have a guarantee on their oil and they will cover you. In our John Deer and CAT diesel engines we run into the same crap, must use manufacturers oil or an oil that has a guarantee like Petro Canada Duron E, Chevron, etc. Use a good oil and you'll be fine. I have almost 7000 km on my 800 etec and ran Ipone, my buddy had around 6200 on his etec with XPS oil. Both of us 0 issues.
