Am I missimg something?

I was filling the sled with oil last night,,and this "hole i will call it "...caught my eye,,,,Is there supposed to be a plug or something in here?Looks strange to me.Doesn't look like anything has been in it to close it off ,but thought i would check.Look like where your timing light would flash if it was a harmonic balancer on a truck..
Sled is a 09 M8

i asked the same thing and the answer is no there is no plug....its a way of checking timing or something....cant remeber the reason but its the way it is supposed to be

I just put a piece of muffler tape over the hole. Keeps all the crap out.

If you pull the belly pan off, you'll see the bottom has way more open areas than the hole at the top.
