Not sure if I’m way outta line but looking for a 2012-2014 pro rmk with lower km on it as a spare sled. I don’t want to be that douche that low balls people on Kijiji but with all these new machines and the economy I would figure I should be able to find one for about 4000. It seems people don’t realize the depreciation on these things. Man it hurts but good thing the fun makes up for it. What are your guys thoughts

I bought a 12 pro for 3500$ with 3400 km on the machine full motor with fix kit done at 2500km. People are dreaming thinking they can get max dollar on a 4-6 year old sled.

Used market is off the hook right now for pricing. If you were thinking about getting into this sport now Is the time. Lots of selection and prices are low.

People seem to like to compare sleds that sold new for 16k to ones that sold for 10k new. My opinion is I don’t need to sell my 2012 Freeride for the same price as a SP more miles and less stuff done to it. I am fortunate that I would like to sell my sled but I don’t need to and won’t give it away because some douche thinks it should go for less.

It is definitely a buyers market out there. Way too many used sleds. I sold my 14 Pro which had been immaculately maintained and had many add ins for $4500. Would I have liked more? Of course. Reality is our economy is still not all that great and toys are the first thing to go and last thing anyone is buying. That’s just supply and demand at work. If you don’t have to sell your sled or don’t want to great. I try to keep on something as current as I can afford so I tend to turn them over every 4-5 years. Plus every year you hang on to them they seem to drop until you hit $2500 cause at some point that’s all anyone will pay. Just my $0.02.

I have always followed used sled, bike and other ohv prices and have asked realistic prices when I sell and they sell quickly.

As an example two years ago I know a guy who sold a 2012 pro for $5500, last year I know a guy who bought a 2013 Pro for $5500 so when I listed my 2014 Pro this year I had a pretty good idea $5500 would be a good price point given the condition. I base my prices on what the market is willing to bare and what sells.

Right now a 2015 Pro would be priced reasonable at $5500 into next fall but would be a better sell at $5000 following the history of what I generally see.

From there take $500-750 off for each model year older depending on mileage and condition. Mods are only worth %50 of new. I don’t care that someone spent $2500 in extras. Unless it’s good stuff I likely don’t want it and I am not paying retail for someone’s used tunnel bag.

So given that “formula” used Pro asking prices could look like:

2015 $5500
2014 $5000-4750
2013 $4750-4000
2012 $4000-3250 but will be valued less as it isn’t as desired

Then obviously however much the person is willing to deal can affect pricing from there. Eventually everything is worth something and that falls in that $2500-3250 range.

For 2016 you get into the Axys and then newer model years can jump up a level. I saw a ‘16 Axys listed last night for $7000 and it was clean. Shouldn’t last long at that price. But realistically they are going to be tougher to move at $8500 next fall which I see ones listed a lot higher. Considering that’s only 3 model years old and it was likely $14,000+ I would say 3 year old sleds with a year or two warranty are the best value for many people shopping used as you likely get something low mileage with some upgrades for half of retail that you can ride for 2-3 years and still have something to sell.

Different manufacturers have their own price margins for used sleds. Pre 2017 cats as an example are tougher to get what would be considered fair value for as the dealers were blowing out brand new two year old units for $9000 or even less. Kills the used market on 1-2 year old sleds.

Doo’s have historically been priced higher and had good warranty. But a 2014 XM is not worth $8000+ and I see lots of those. They should still be within $1000 of other brands.

But that’s just my take on prices. Shop around and get the best price possible for the newest sled possible.

I would pay premium for clean sled. If market is $4000.00 for 13 with 4K on it. Someone has 13, with 1200km or less. It is worth extra $1000.00. Beat up machines, don’t last (headaches). Best to part beat machines out.
