Just wondering what everybody is doing about their aluminum rims. I have an 06 Dodge Ram Megacab and got knocked one of the tires off the bead (outside bead only) when I went to take it off to get repaired the damn thing wouldn't budge. We managed to get it reseated so all was good, but today I finally got the ambition to pull all four off. So an hour and half later, a bit of vulgar language and a big sledge hammer they were off. Do I need to take them off every once in awhile just for the fun of it, or can I use some antisieze on the back of the rim and hub? Or do I buy a sledge hammer and keep it in the truck? The fronts were just as bad as the back. Who uses nitrogen and is it worth it? They have nitrogen in them now, but when I popped the one of the bead had to use air until I could go and get it purged. Thanks for the info ! Mark:d

if you ever have a rim seize on to the hub, just loosen the lug nuts a few turns then drive ahead a couple of feet. this should break you rim free.

Copper coat or nickel coat works good.

You can add a little gear oil to it to made it thinner.

Do you rotate your tires regularly? I do mine every 10k and never had this problem on 3 trucks with aluminum rims.

Every 20,000 km tire rotation.

Pipes knows what he is talking about. That works great. I rotate my tires every 5000 km and use anti-sieze. You don't want to beat on an alloy rim too much with a big hammer.

Yea I had a big problem with my stockers to. I fixed it by going aftermarket rims :d

Even after like 5,000km they would be siezed on a bit. Couldn't believe how bad they were the first time with like 20,000kms since being off. To get them off I put a pipe between the tire and leaf springs and pried them off. Don't like to touch the rim trying to get them off.

Really weird though of all aftermarket rims i've had, none of them EVER do it.
