It seems if you want to ruin someones career now all you have to do is say he slapped my ass 25 years ago. Guaranteed there will be others jump on the bandwagon.

Character assassination has been around for a long time. It was used quite a bit by Stalin, against those who opposed him. Was an easy, effective way to gather public support without haveing to provide any real evidence.
And usually, once it was found out that is was bull**** or blown way out of proportion, it was too late- that damage was already done.

In Canada, you just have to wait a few years and say you were offended. Then you get a large layout from the Government.
All that said, abuse is abuse and shouldn’t be tolerated at any time. People need to speak up when it happens or leave it buried in the past.

Haha. Stalin didn't bother with character assassination. He just had whoever he didn't like killed or sent to the gulag and worked to death. Not really a good comparison.

I think this is mostly just a matter of A-holes like Lauer, O'Riley etc. are finally getting their due. After years of consistent perversion, the people who have experienced their bull**** firsthand seem to have an attentive audience. Will some of the claims be BS? I am sure they will be but because not every accuser is being completely truthful (or may be telling an outright lie) doesn't mean you should discount all of them as being the same.
Imagine your wife, GF or daughter working with Cosby back in the day. Not sure why anyone would go to the defense of some overpaid, inflated ego minor celebrity who they don't know by anything other than their on screen persona. These guys have tons of money and if the allegations are untrue, they certainly can sue for defamation, wrongful dismissal yada yada. Not likely you are going to see any of that though because most of what is said is true and there is probably more information that is even worse lurking out there.
Having said the above, if new moral standards are applied to past acts (not referring to stuff that was ALWAYS illegal) you could wind up with....

The left media/liberal elites decided to make "sexual harassment" the newest thing that can not be tolerated....at ANY level. They did this in an attempt to "reel in" some right wingers. IE: Trump, Moore. They never thought in their wildest dreams that it would backfire and it is taking out more and more of their own. Honestly, I don't like Franken due his politics, but his transgressions were all just funny-man stuff....and now he's the boogey man. I love watching these Democrat/media/Hollywood elites fall though....

Not sure about your family but the difference in my house is that my wife and daughter were raised smart enough to recognize that sucking a celebrity's wiener isnt the right thing to do. And that using what's between their ears to get ahead is wiser than using what's between their legs.
