Sorry it took so long to respond.
Small tourism communities close to the border rely on tourism and always will. We are preparing for a normal season the best we can. No one here is complaining about our town being absolutely packed with visitors now, so I do not see what a 50% reduction of visitors over winter will be any different. As noted, there will be a few people with strong emotions, but all still have families to support and jobs to do. The majority of us know we rely on Tourism to make our livings and support our families. We advise that you check policies with your chosen hotel as they may have certain requirements.
We are planning for a "normal" season although I would expect there will be slight changes that should not really affect ones experience. We will do all we can to communicate any changes or abnormalities. When visiting a community, be kind, be respectful of their wishing for public behaviour, give others space and dont shoot off your snot rocket within a few feet of my face....mmmk?
Regarding the pipeline, we are working with Trans Mountain and so far, they are holding true to their original statement that they will not affect access to our riding areas. We will do our best to see that is the case.
We are hear for our riders and winter friends 100% and will do all we can to support you, unless mandated to do otherwise....
Don't forget to check out that Allan Webcam. Was pretty insane up there a week ago with the new snow. Pretty cool to see.
