You know... im all for helmets.... never ride without one.... but..you know..we have too many peeps on this earth anyways... the ones riding without a helmet should just continue riding without one... then there is a better chance of them kicking the bucket and passing on to stupid land... then there will be more space and food for us smart ones....

The smart people of the land do not have to read this, Canada does not keep stats for atv injuries but the yankies do. You have a 11% chance of a head injury and a 41% chance of torso upper extremity injury on these machines if you do not drink. This changes if you are a drinker, for some reason drunks have a 40% chance of a head injury. So drunks should wear a helmet and non drinkers should wear chest protectors.

Better yet, wear both.

LOL about the chest protector. I bought one of the upper body suits from fox with the chest, back and arm protection. I have worn it on the sat three rides now. I took it off today when we returned to the trucks as it was hot. I took a quick burn on the bike without it and felt pretty naked. Jumped back on the quad and was ok, but when I went back on the bike for a bit the suit went back on. Now I have it it is becoming part of the gear to wear all the time.

Ah yes, the mittens on a string nannie state is at it again. Yes, a helmet or seatbelt should be worn by choice, not force. (I wear both). If the government really want to save lives, lessen hospital stays, they should police the public washrooms to ensure everyone washes their hands after use. I'm just tired of the threat of fines on most activities.

If you cave your head in because you weren't wearing a helmet and you survive, who pays to wipe the drool off your chin and wipe your butt? Would you really want to have your family be responsible for changing your diapers multiple times per day and night?

Riding these last few days I would say we saw more people without helmets that ever before.

We always wear them. I think it should be manditory.

They should educate the masses instead. Show people the implications of head injuries, while their at it, get riders to wear goggles as well.

you're correct, and education is key, but how do we educate without consequences besides the inevitable Darwinsim?

I was with Arff on Saturday, we were by the blue bridge on South Fork for a break.

2 quads came by Can-Am outlanders, both with what we thought was 2 adults on them, 2nd quad girl on back in complete pink & black fox gear.... thought girl was carrying helmet..... get up the trail pass them..... not carrying helmet.... carrying 1-2yr old infant.... so, 2 adults, 1 toddler, $12,000+ quad, $300 worth of pink fox gear..... adult helmet on toddler squished between adults on quad......... I could go on......

Safety is something that needs to be pushed more on these people. It doesn't take much to do major damage hitting ones head in an ATV accident.

Does a law really need to be heavily enforced to exist? I'm thinking that it will still increase the number of people who wear helmets. For people that are new to the sport, I think mandatory education would also help shape their behavior a lot.
