just by making a law won't make people wear helmets (example: who has ever exceeded the speed limit?) People need to take some accountability for themselves and do the right thing.

there are ALOT of people who dont have common sense and you have to make it law so you can at least force them by way of pocketbook to use common sense.

So you think your idea of common sense should be forced upon people? People aren't forced to wear helmets in the U.S. when riding a bike on the highway. That's just what this country needs, more laws pushed by people who think that their idea of common sense is right and force their views down people's throats via legislation and fines. I wear a helmet because I think it's a good idea most of the time. There are times that I don't. I don't think I need you or your brethren to be telling me how to protect myself. And don't give me that argument about health care costs to society, etc, if you're going to use that argument, then mountain climbing, hang gliding, and other such sports better be banned also! You really get off on telling other people how to live their lives? Pretty self-righteous!

I personally hate to see laws being implemented to control stupidity. Enforce the ones that exist already. Insurance , Registration, with licence no's on rear of off-road vehicles. Parents who let young kids ride without helmets etc. should be kicked in the crotch. Sure some of these young uns can ride larger quads, s--t happens, these quads are over 600 lbs. Kids like to giver and full speed ahead, everything's fine until the oh oh part. If you don't like your kids put them on 500cc plus quads. If only common sense was common.

We don't need more laws, Stupidity will cull the herd.

Anyone know the site to find out what's legal? Would I be fined with my daughter on her 90 cc registered machine? (she's 13)

Friendly advice: Unless you want to lick the window please wear a helmet!

How many riders are killed by crushing their organs? So it should be law to wear a flack jacket aswell. I work in a dangerous field and the employer has thousands of policies to protect peoples lives and their premiums but their is still fatalities so what is happening it's a single decision made by the rider or worker to do the safe thing or take the risk without assessment. As far as kids go I believe if they are to young to make the correct decision or make the wrong decision sit the parents down and ask them if they value their Childs life and if so why haven't they educated their kid on safety. My aunt fell off a kids pedal bike and cracked her skull and passed right on the spot so it's not what your riding either again it's your personal decision.all I'm saying is don't rely on law to protect your life use your brain and make the safe choice.

I think that wearing a helmet is important, and we don't ride without them. Lets face it though, you can't enforce common sense with some law, especially out in the middle of the bush somewhere. Look how many sledders have died high marking, in my opinion, common sense tells me not to high mark, or ride my quad without a helmet, or ride a street bike at 140 in a 60.
Trouble is, people are still going to do it whether its illegal or not. As far as going to the dead quaders family with my opinion, come on, I'm sure the family has a pretty strong opinion already about what happened. I go to work in the winter, and I see 10 cars in the ditch between Leduc and Edmonton, common sense says stay off the frigen highway if its that icy. My point is, common sense often gets over ruled, whether its because you have a brain fart, or just because it has too.
Sad thing, a lot of the time it has too. Still have to go to work no matter how chitty the highway is. Now was that a rant or what!!

if you are 18yrs or older it should be up to you. If you under that age, it should be mandatory to wear the helmet, this in return would make the next generation more safe because they would already be use to wearing them and probably would feel unsafe if they decided not to wear them later in life. Just my opinion.

45 % of all atv accidents involved alcohol. All i can say is it feels way heavier than 600lbs when it lands on you.....where a chest protector if you dislike pain.

Yes helmets are a very good thing, however everytime there is a fatality involving ATV's everyone assumes it's either no helmet or alcohol to blame. Yes many times those are to blame, but not as many as everyone assumes.
How many deaths and injuries have nothing to do with helmet or no helmet, internal organ damage, ripped blood vessels, drowning, broken neck etc. etc.
Yes we should all have helmets on our heads, but it just doesn't happen all the time and laws will not change that. Also there are times that it is better to remove the helmet (eg. driving slowly while hunting, plowing snow, and yard work all come to mind).
I say leave it the way it is (freedom of choice), everyone knows we should wear one, just as we know we shouldn't speed in our cars or highmark on dangerous hillsides or enjoy a cool beer and go for a sled or ATV ride......it all happens though doesn't it....
