Advice On Starter Rider

My boy who is 4 this year has been riding quads for about a year & a half. He absolutely loves everything about the sport. I recently bought him a 08 raptor 80cc (governed right back) but has all the basics down. As he progresses with his riding what are the ages when racing & all that begin. I enjoy casual riding with him & am just curious about the steps that are all involved. I have no idea & would appreciate the information. I know he is very young & I'll probably get bashed but he enjoys it & so do I.

The one thing i wished I did was get my kids on a dirt bike first... Before a quad.

Just for the balance factor ect compard to a bike

There good now with practice but they learn control better on a bike compard to a quad...

Agree 100 percent with Tex:

I started the boy on a honda xr50 when he was 4. He's 11 now and can ride literally anything that has a motor on it. Actually anything with wheels. That's a big machine for a four year old imho, even that xr50 dirt bike was a big for my kid but it was dialed back too. If he rolls a quad, he's dead. If he falls of a small dirt bike, then a lesson is learned. Again, just my opinion.

make sure he has all the proper equipment helmet, boots, chest protector, gloves and being he is only 4 please make him wear a neck protector that attaches to the chest protector if he hits a big bump the weight of his helmet can cause damage to his small neck and spine there is nothing more enjoyable then watching and spending time with your kid when there growing up have fun and be safe

Our kids started young too, dirtbike first, then quad, then back to dirtbikes, and we monitored them very closely. Reviewed the rules before just about every ride, and if they did something they weren't supposed to do, they parked the bike for the day. Nothing got the message across better than that! And, as above, they never rode without full gear. We didn't use a neck protector but it's probably a good idea to add it to the list. We felt the size of the bike and the speed he was going, didn't warrant it. It probably depends where you're riding too, at that age he was just going around and around the yard, endlessly, for hours a day....

One big rule we had was no riding when friends were over. Too easy to go into show off mode, and that never ends well
