Adjustable limiter

Has anyone one else broke the shaft that goes from the handle to the skid.

saw online where someone made one from a 5/16" bolt and said it worked fine.
here's the part number 503194147 but i don't know if there are any differences between the years.

Probably no difference they can just make more $ if they sell the whole piece
