Why I did not post any info is out of respect for people that it might effect. I do not have athourity to post such tragic news. I only asked for more info so all others would be awhere of the dangers out in mountains. My heart goes out to those effected. As for you you can go pound sand.

Why post with zero info?[/QUOTE]

Anyone know why no news yet? Usually with an avalanche there's info a lot quicker than this. Nothing showing on avalanche.ca or anywhere. I can see why no names of victims until next of kin is notified.

Information from Avalanche Canada.....

ACCIDENT DATESATURDAY, JANUARY 12, 2019
Activity: Snowmobiling
Elevation: 2750-2550m
Aspect: Southeast-South
Avalanche Size: 3
Number Caught: 2
Deceased: 1 + 1 missing
Description of Incident:
A group of snowmobilers were on or near slopes on the south/southeast side of Mount Brewer in the Purcell Mountains. Two were caught in a very large Deep Persistent Slab avalanche 200-400m wide that ran 900-1100m onto a small lake. The avalanche failed near the ground on a layer of facets/depth hoar (sugary grains) that formed early in the season, then broke to the ground lower down on the slope. One deceased with an activated airbag was recovered from a two metre deep burial. The second person caught in the avalanche is still missing at the time of this report but a transceiver signal was located on the lake where debris is floating on the water. Recovery efforts are ongoing.
