Well today was a beautiful day, just did a bit of wrenching and drank some teas.

My skies were completly warn out. Bent up, bottom worn out and side to side play.
So I got some new yellow ones. I think they look pretty sharp on there.

Decided to give the Doo scratchers another try because the trail has been pretty much Ice
for a few days. I need them. Hopefully they don't just snap off again....

Im trying to locate a bogie wheel kit for it right now too. I think it needs it.

Some places are better left unmentioned on the internet, just sayin.

Because no one in revelstoke knows about them. It's BLUE PLATE's special private spot so nobody from AB/SK/MB/ON/QC/NB/PEI/USA/MEXICO/EUROPE/JAPAN/NORTH POLE is allowed to go. Please stay wherever it is that you had the choice of being born and leave him alone. Thank you for your cooperation.

Wow!
Johnnie you are fiesty this fine day.....heheheheh

Your still in Revy so I guess the sled is running fine.... Good to see.

Dan, was the sled keel depth worn down pretty deep? Hard to tell from the top picture other than they were flattened.
I am wondering how these new skis with deep keels are going to hold up this spring.

Might be worth while to have a spare set with the old keel for spring... Might be cheaper..

Your thoughts on this?

He didn't say the name or where it's at

Yeah I didn't post location for a reason. But yes there is some natural hot springs out
there in them hills and they are pretty cool. Zillions of hippies go there already anyways.

That looks pretty normal Dan. I'm thinking one would need a very good dealer for that to be on warranty. The picture with the mud in the cooler is interesting. Never thought to check it out. Been a strange year.

Dan, just take a flame to your track and melt them fibers off.

Yeah I was just kidding on the warranty, though that would be sweet.

Yeah Ill take a torch to the cords. chunks of rubber are starting to come off to though.

So Dan,

With a few months on the Raptors, what are your thoughts versus the KYB Pro 40s?

(Did you have the KYBs revalved?)

Today I went with my friends Riley and Alek to a top secret location. Gary and Blue Plate know where this is I'm sure, but not too many others will.

It was kinda a fail though because we got to the final little climb you do before the Alpine and Alek and Riley pussed out....
(these are my good friends and they pussed out and they know it...lol) I don't really blame them cause if you fawk up,, your sled is a right off.

Didn't want to ride all by myself, so we shutter down early. No biggie, Ill wait a couple weeks for the snow to soften up and Ill hit it up with
my friend Kallon when he gets back to Revy from work here soon.

My new scratchers did fawk all for me,, cooked a set of sliders today......

Well first off Ill tell you that its hard to compare the Freeride to the T3. The Freeride has wider A-arms, More travel and a more rigid tunnel.
The T3 is a Pow sled. I never revalved the KYB 40's on the Freeride as there was no need to for me. Plenty of Adjustment there.

Both the KYB 40's and the Raptors are wicked shocks. The Freeride comes with the 40's,, but the stock T3 shocks suck and Id wear them out very quickly.
The stock X package shocks tend to last me around 1000km's before they are screwed. One time coming out of silent pass in the whoops I stopped
and noticed snow boiling off my shocks!! Talk about serious fading! They get VERY hot if pushed hard. Pushing the Raptor hard,, out of Area 51 in the whoops
they barely get warm to the touch. I have 4000km's on them and they are still like new.

When I bought the T3 I knew I needed to upgrade the Shocks and I was looking at Raptors, Elka's or KYB 40's all top of the line shocks.
Now as it turns out Raptor hooked me up with some shocks for free and I am super grateful for that!
Had I not been sponsored, I would have got the Raptors any ways as they are priced way better than the Elka's or KYB 40's.

The big advantages I see the Raptors have over the KYB 40's is:

-they are lighter and have Billet Aluminum Bodies.(I haven't weighed them but just by picking then up I'd say they are)
-The Raptors have 1 piece Triple rate springs
-They look cooler IMO
-Excellent customer service. RPS will take good care of you when you by their Shocks.
- And Very reasonable price point

The 2 advantages the KYB40's have is:

1- they come stock on the Freeride
2- they have rebound adjustment.

Your everyday sledder doesn't need rebound adjustment IMO though. Just 1 more thing to confuse them! haha

Seriously lots of guys ask me on the hill for help with setup on their Raptors and there is only preload and 20 position clickers for Compression dampening.
add in high/Low speed setting and rebound and your average guy has no clue what to do with all those settings.

Bottom line is Raptors are a great performance shock and they would be my #1 choice for a shock upgrade for any brand of sled.
And IMO suspension is the best over all mod you can do for any of the newer sleds.

Hope this helps, as I tried to give the most honest and unbiased opinion possible.

Cheers Dan

Could not agree more.

Thanks for the detailed response, it was very helpful. The stock X shocks revalved and resprung are a huge improvement, but still leave me wanting more.

The problem I see with the stock X shocks is they don't have enough oil capacity. A shock works by converting Kinetic energy into thermal energy.
More oil capacity is generally better as far as shocks go.

Get some Raptors, you won't be disappointed

We had a lil fun blowing off fire bombs at the Peaks lodge last night. This places is great! Ride right from here, they have gas, they have a bar&restaurant,
locked secure compound for your sleds, friendly staff and the owners; Tara Lee and Alek will get drunk with you and blow stuff up! haha

You won't see this at the Days inn....
