I believe O Zone was at the Boulder cabin at the time of the accident. Definately not part of the show as Cuso's has said.

As with everything in our society, some people can't control themselves and when they get rowdy, drink or light up around people that want nothing to do with it ( especially families) then someone with the authority to do something about it has to step in.
The news report regarding the ski hills was because of people like this on the hill, gondolas and chairs that decide its their right to drink or light up. The report said that the ski patrol does not have the mandate to confront them, enforce the law or remove them. They are there for the safety of others for skiing and boarding only.

I have no problems with this because I have nothing to worry about and have not had a bad experience with the law.
I really think there are a bunch of people out there that just don't want to take responsibility for their own actions, admit that what they did is wrong and accept the consequences. The MAN is out there just waiting to bring you down!

I have some friends that have had bad experiences with cops and they have a completely different opinion from me. I can't say their wrong or right for forming their opinions based on personal experiences.

Instead of wasting tax dollars to catch someone smoking a little dope or sipping on their wine flask on the chairlift I think they should be trying to catch the POS thieves stealing sleds and quads. Oh wait, that would mean actually doing their job and not snow boarding on my dollar! :D

Seems like snowmobilers are being targetted here....I have no issue with abiding by the law but would rather not get hassled when I'm trying to enjoy some sledding in the back country. Our tax dollars could be more wisley spent by catching drug dealers, breaking up Attiwatiskat diamond mine blockades, and solving murders. How would it go over if police targetted any other recreational group? Maybe some random back pack searches on back country hikers? Maybe target some tree planters for marijauna use... Ever have something stolen? Can't get the police to give a f$#@!, but they will venture into the back country to check your insurance...gimme a break.

There are different divisions in the police force. I am sure the CSI aren't out checking your registration and insurance. Plus, beside that point, how else are they going to find stolen sleds? Out on the people's trucks? Oh yeah, that's right.... everyone bitches about them doing routine checks there also..

If it helps getting people who got their ch!t stolen back, I am all for it.

You can't please everyone!I have no problem getting checked out when I'm out riding! But what really is the big deal about anyways!I've rode a lot of places and it seems to be getting worse with the guys getting ch!t faced at the cabins and no one can say anything without it turning into a ch!t show!My kids are about a year away from coming with me to the mountains and I don't need some loaded up retard leaving the hill causing a wreck and messing them up!One thing I noticed(I have buddies that do this) is the guys that have the most problems with cops usually have a record but are the first ones bitching when something happens to them that the cops did 'nothing' for them!It would be more economical for the cops to sit at the parking lot all day and check guys and that would still piss people off!!But them floating around the hill all day seems to work at keeping the retards under control too!And what is this 'self policing' some guys are talking about!Saying something at the cabin is about as effective as saying something on here, you'll have a bunch of guys jumping on you in a heart beat!It only takes a few idiots to ruin it for everyone!

Well if they're not checking your insurance and registration, how are they gonna know if your sled is stolen? Check everyone's vin? I am sure stolen sled will show up on the mountain but the vast majority will be parted out or flipped for quick cash. I'd rather see the RCMP in the parking lot or 2 km up the trail picking off piss tanks than up on the mountain.

You're argument has few, if not zero valid points.

Ya....that's not gonna happen. But if it gets the pizz tanks and pot heads off the trail I'm happy. I'm so tired of that crap these days I go out of my way to ride where no one else does. Bonus side to that is we've been riding quite a bit of awesome untouched snow we wouldn't normally have even thought about!

HUH??

You said they should be solving a murder... A job for CSI.... These cops are trained for other duties. you know different divisions... get it?
I never said the cops out there aren't checking. If you have a serial number and it jives with your reg and insurance... then carry on.
It's also a reason to stop you to check for the pisstanks.
If you have a better solution for finding stolen sleds, and the people who have them, please enlighten me.

BTW, I'm not arguing..

So you are saying they will never find a stolen sled in the backcountry? There are many stupid people out there...

as previously stated hanging out in the staging areas would be the most effective and efficient way to stop piss tanks and recover sleds i wouldnt be to happy about them checking my crews sleds over but a minor delay wouldnt be the end of the world

The only things the cops will be looking for on the mountain is piss tanks (yay, get rid of them), and ALBERTA CASH!

nothing wrong with smokin a bit of herb up on the mountain :) its the pizz tanks and city slickers that are the problem .
its that kind of mentality that will ensure the cops on the hills keep your trees to the tree zones and hush hush you jacka$$
