The COVID-19 Pandemic of 2020 has brought our country to a halt. Heck, our entire planet is experiencing the effects of COVID-19. The majority of businesses and organizations are temporarily closing, and services suspended, in an attempt to flatten the curve of the outbreak. Many snowmobile clubs have halted meetings and events, in an attempt to do their part, and reduce the spread of this infectious disease, but everything may not be as dismal as it could be especially if you live where you ride!
While I don’t want to encourage unnecessary travel, snowmobilers who live near their riding areas may have a unique advantage over many, especially when it comes to keeping their snow spirits up.
Here is what I figure:

  1. We still have epic snow to shred, far away from crowds and chaos! The snow continues to fall in many parts of British Columbia accompanied by Bluebird Skies!
  2. Temperatures are warming. It’s kind of nice to ride when the air doesn’t hurt your face right?
  3. No one said you and your sled crew can’t self isolate on the top of a mountain, popping pillows and poking techy lines. You don’t have to be cooped up in your house watching reruns and eating quarantine snacks when you could be out there enjoying a wonderful day of fresh air and spectacular views!
  4. It’s spring, the days are longer, equating to more riding time!
  5. If you keep on snowmobiling, you’ll keep your spirits up and your body strong. Physical activity is known to keep moods elevated, and the immune system strong. Sledding does your mind and body good!
  6. Ski resorts shut down? No biggie if you’re a skier/boarder with a sled! This is especially great for families who want to get out and get some sunshine and QT in while ski touring. Let’s face it, no one likes those long line ups at ski resorts anyways. Sled Skiing is flat out affordable and awesome.
  7. You’ve never snowmobiled in your life? No big deal, for with a bit of extra time on your hands, and spring snow conditions that are easier for newbies to navigate, this is the perfect time to learn!
So as you can see, quarantine and self-isolation can be more than ok if you’re a snowmobiler. Wash your hands’ people, don’t touch your face, be kind, and have fun. With pay at the pump options, you can still minimize exposure to other people and have a fantastic day snowmobiling in British Columbia. If you feel sick, stay home. The mountains will be there for many years to come.
Cycle Works West is offering a $200 dollar donation to the club of your choice for each unit snowchecked with their team! Thank you to Tate and Cycle Works West for #supportingthesportThank you FXR Racing, for supporting the sport generously throughout the year. Your donations to clubs, and events are very much appreciated![h=3]Share this:[/h]

Bring your bbq to cook on, sleep in the truck or trailer, pack jerry cans or a tidy tank of gas, and go ride.
We have ridden 3 more days the last week, and going riding again Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
I should be 75 plus days by the end of the season. I just cleaned out a diesel tidy tank i have, to fill it with gasoline instead, and slap some 1203 stickers on it. When the snow sets up too much for the sleds, out comes the snow bikes.
My daughter's birthday is June 8, and she said all she wants fornher birthday is to ride...DONE!

Bether have some good filters for that gas to go through before it hits your sled unless you steamed the wax and diesel crud out of that tank.

Today was a wonderful bluebird day and very quiet up in the hills. Being forced to work from home isn't so bad when you live next to the staging area.
I didn't realize that working from home meant go sledding......

All good until you have to eat and sleep. May not bother you but the people in the sled towns might not want you around them unless you own a house there. If you cant sleep eat in parking lot dont go.

Just got back tonight from a 6 day trip, used an entire tidy full of gas, sleds ran perfectly.
Camped in the trailer, cooked good food on the bbq and hot plate, had the honda generator for power. What an epic trip!
Staying home and doing nothing would suck. Self isolating in a parking lot and on mountains is great.

I bet those small towns are hurting bad for cash, and would love people to rent some cabins, and order in some pizza or chinese.
