Having a little problem with my 2010 Backcounrty ok a big problem the oil pump fail with less than 3000 k.m the feeder line going to the pto side loss it seal and pump is not pumping correctly to the pto side the end result engine failure .When talk to a local parts person it seems it a common problem.I sent a letter to BRP of course they said i have to talk to the dealership, of course they don't want anything to do with it because it off warranty they be happy to drop a $4000 motor in no problem to me this is totally B*******.My question is has other people have had this problem

A problem with a 4 year old motor regardless of km's is a non warranty issue... especially that year, even if it was a problem in the past.

You can't expect a manufacturer to honour ALL of their shortcomings all of the time...

Deal with it. sad truth, but sorry.

Yup that's the way it is. And I have never heard of that failure. Skidoo oil pumps have been very reliable. Chit my 2010 has 8000k on it

yah some times chit happens! And you wont have to drop a hole new engine, you will only have to do pistons and probably jugs. Theres a few used sets of jug around if you look for them. Upgrade your pistons fix your oil pump or do an oil pump delete and your good for another 5000. At 3000km your not far off a top end anyway.

Agreed. Might as well start learning about sleds and rebuilding them because if you ride the mountains sh*t breaks all the time wether it be your front bumper to your motor. Top ends are a very common repair. In my eyes I would see this as the opportunity to drop in a 860 or a 872 trygstad kit for a similar cost of stock components.

Yup agreed. You got to drive it for three years with no issues now give your self some more performance and you will forget all about that issue the first time you hit the throttle! But do your self a favour and go pick your sled up from the dealer and take it to Deano at Mad Motorsports. You will get better work for cheaper!

So, which part of the whole thing is total bull****?? The fact that something failed after being used quite a bit, or the fact that you had to pay to fix something you own, and was off warranty??

Wow, 3000 km's is barely broken in as far as I'm concerned. You should get to 5000 km's on an 800R with no worries. I just did the top end on my 2010 renegade at 6050 km's and the rings were perfect with only some slight detonation on the pto side. I went with MCB dual ring pistons this time around, BRP caged wrist pin bearings.
